Logitech MX700 rechargeable Cordless Optical Mouse $44.71 Free Ship + Tax (No Rebates) *08/07 only*

I just did this. I was going to buy it a couple days ago with the -$10 coupon. I did an in-store pickup but the manager was a real jerk and demanded proof of the coupon code I used. So I said. "See ya' later jerk." I got in on this deal and saved 5 more bux without having to deal with the In-store manager. Hooray.

Cheers,

Temptation getting stronger....

Buy it, dude! You won't regret it, believe me.

hmmm so tempted too, I wonder if it would be worth it to upgrade the Dual Optical Mouse that I have...

I've got one, and have been thinking of getting another for my wife's computer. Can't stand any other mouse since getting the MX700.

great mouse. one problem is when i install the software and try to set my setting for mouse 4, 5 and the wheel, everything gets screwy. when i try to press down on wheel my window mouse pointer will show. but i find that i don't need that software and it runs great without it. otherwise best mouse that i've tried.

hm you know what, I had this mouse early in the year and it just felt weird...like there was a little lag while using it. When I go over to my friends house, I notice this same kind of lag when I play games and just normal use as well...Its plugged into the usb port, so I don't think thats the problem. I'm not sure if I've been doing something wrong because everyone says its a good mouse.

It's a nice mouse but the quality of the one I have as well as the software leaves something to be desired.

The software stinks for starters. It's buggy and way behind in features. The most recent release seems to be more stable that previous versions but still buggy nonetheless.

The hardware is a nice idea but of poor quality. The contacts in the base station is screwed up so that it doesn't always charge the mouse. It's an internal problem as a few small jolts to the base seems to make things make contact as they should. Also the mouse is developing a small stress fracture from being placed in the base station. The wheel button is also extremely loose so that slightly touching the wheel can cause pages to scroll the number of lines you have configured and the wheel did not even have the slight click feel it should have.

If someone has a better quality version of this, they might have a decent mouse but I've been very tempted to go back to an MS Intellimouse Optical like I used to have. If only Kensington had the quality in their current products that they had back in '95-'96.

I have the Intellimouse Explorer and just got the MX700 today. Installation went off without a hitch, mouse works great. The scroll wheel is loose, but not as loose as the Intellimouse Explorer (at least the v2.0 I have), but I much prefer a loose wheel, so I think they're both great.

I've had two Explorers die on me in three years, but I stuck with them (before finding out about how to get them replaced on this forum! 🙁 ) because I just liked them a lot better than the others. My brother has the blue Logitech equivalent of the Explorer, which I didn't like at all. Anyway, the MX700 fits my hand almost as well as the Explorer, and I have to admit, no cord is a treat. Now, we'll see how well it holds up...

This is (IMO) the best way to use the MX700.

1) Do NOT install the driver software. The mouse works fine without this software! It's buggy, takes RAM, and serves no purpose other than setting the buttons different than the defaults. I couldn't think of what could be more useful than the Back button and the autoscroll buttons anyway...

2) Use the PS/2 port. I cannot for the life of me understand why people plug a mouse into the USB port. I've researched this and it offers no advantage in refresh rate, etc. The only thing it does do is take up a valuable USB port that could be used for something else.
I guess if you have a reason to hot plug the mouse in and out (for whatever reason), then you are better off with USB, but otherwise why not use the PS/2 port that *nothing else* will work in except a mouse?
