Logitech MX700\Ratpadz: My mouse doesn't slide like it used to....

My mouse just doesn't slide very well. I tried to clean the bottom of the mouse and the mouse pad but it still feels "draggy" on the pad. I'd love to get the new feeling back into it...any ideas....Thanks, Ed

I've heard that the Radpad might wear off the teflon pads on the base of the mouse. Check those.

Mine works fine on a Ratpad, though.

annoying how they don't sell teflon feet replacements eh?

and yea, sometimes pads wear down too! i had an old everglide that got the ridges worn down, that ebecame a rough spot.

you can go to everglide.com and get a bit of mouse tape.. that stuff is teflon tape that u can stick on the feet, kinda neat. i wish there were a place where i could buy a big roll of the stuff though.

then again i also sprayed my everglide pad some speckles of colored paint and a few coats of clear coat. feels the same

You will get wear and tear eventually with plastic type mouse pads,the Icemat and and SteelPad are probably the best two mouse pads that have the best resistance to wear and tear being the first is made of glass and the latter metal.

Yep all you can do is try new teflon pads on the mouse and see if that helps at all.

yes, but where! where do you buy these teflon replacement pads? i can only find teflon tape for putting over the pads.

its like a grand conspiracy, no replacement pads to force u to buy a new mouse!!

I just read the rest of your post,the problem with teflon pads is they would have to match all mice feet,so it`s easier just to buy some teflon tape and cut the size you want.

not really too hard to sell the standard logitech or microsoft mousefeet sizes though. aren't too many variations.

my problem with mouse skates is that they are tape. its thin, it wears out. it works, but not long as i'd like. they also sell them for more then i'dlike topay. its just tape. id love to buy a roll, but i can't find a place that sells rolls.

i use my logitech cordless optical with the ratpadz gs and some gliding mouse feet. works quite well and when the tape breaks down, you can just slap some more on

That got me thinking...would something like this work comparably to mouse skatez?

Just buy some teflon tape for your mouse. I believe most hardware stores carry it, correct me if I am wrong, although it doesn't come precut. It's better that way, so you get more than one or two feet replacements out of it.

BTW, I think they don't sell the teflon feet because they want to sell you another mouse, and don't figure us to be intelligent or dextrous enough to tape the feet up. They probably would lose sales if they made them, as I am sure there are plenty of people who figure "hmm, mouse no work goood, must get 'nuther one", although at $80(even though I actually paid $55), I don't think i'd replace my mouse because my teflon feet are worn out. Not at that price, not even if it was only $30. I think I can manage cutting it from the tape, thank you.

i've read that spraying Pledge on the ratpadz will do it wonders! try that and the teflon tape combined.

many people have made that mistake, that's not really teflon.

I have a black icemat and it absolutely SUCKS for my Logitech MouseMan Optical. I can't comment on the tracking though, just because the sliding is so bad, it's more like it scrapes across. Anyone have suggestions?

I have an optical mouse from Microsoft and the Ratpads GS. All I can say is that it slides like hell (good thing) and it lets me respond faster to attacks where I need to move the mouse more since it glides faster. My teflon pads are fine, but they are the ones that come with the mouse. I've had the pad for 3 weeks now, and no problems yet with pads.

seriously though, i'm thinking of just buying a 12" X 12" sheet of teflon and using that as a mousepad or cutting it into little pieces to make new mouse feet. someone over at the H forums tried it and said it worked really well. if you're interested, you can buy a sheet here:

Well this just sucks. I examined the box looking for instructions or something to help and they included a small piece of tape of glidey stuff. I applied it over the feet and now it even has trouble tracking! Not to mention it still feels kind of grindy. If I took off the old mouse feet and applied it it would still be grindy because there are ridges that would be higher than the tape. This has to be the worst $20 I ever spent. :|

I`m not surprised,the only mice that work fine with the Black Icemat are the Microsoft Intellimouse/Explorer V3 series and the Logitech MX series.You`ll either have to upgrade your mouse or change the Icemat to something else like the Ratpadz or Everglide Giganta pads.

hehe u didn't? the mx generation mice blow away the old ones. i had 2 mice man opticals, def pale in comparison to my explorer 3.0 and mx 500

i think some early mouseman opticals were only 1500updates a second.. way too slow.

and hmm, ice mat and metal mat or whatever seem to be less low friction then the everglides.


and the original poster, did u look at your pad? look at it in the light at an angle, if parts are worn down then it'll stick. i have my doubts that your mx mouse really has worn its pads down so quickly. one of my pads has a sticky center spot cuz its worn.

you may want to try the thicker teflon tape from fragware(i forgot if it's .net or .com). There's a link in Hardocp to their teflon tape. Those are way better than mouse skatez, as mouse skatez got worn off way too fast on my sUrf. And yeah, always spray pledge before gaming helps.

really? hmm guess the question becomes what material is the gs made of. in this review http://www.dansdata.com/mousemats2.htm dan found a difference between two materals for the everglide. everglide stopped using the fast wearing material of course.
