Logitech MX510 mouse wheel problem?!

I have a problem with my MX510 mouse. The scroll wheel seems to be non-responsive at times. I've noticed it when scrolling web pages and in games when I want to change weapons. In games it sometimes takes 3-4 clicks (rotations) of the wheel before the weapon will change to the next one. I have tried changing the wheel setting to 1 line, 3 lines, 6 lines in the 9.8ver of the mouse driver software but makes no improvement. I have it connected via usb port. I've read some talk about adjusting the "mouse wheel sensitivity" but I dont know where this is.

Anyone had this problem?

Sounds defective to me. My MX510 is normal, albeit the wheel "ticks" are a little on the spongy side. Fortunately Logitech has excellent customer service. Give them a call.

Does it scroll with every "tick" in a normal window? For example, a webbrowser?

If it doesn't, then it's probably defective. If it is, it just might be some other part of your system...

how about uninstalling the mouse and drivers and reinstalling. it looks like the newest drivers are from 01-2004. do you have it plugged into a hub or the motherboard. if you use a hub make sure it's a powered version. i use a microsoft mouse and the wheel changes weapons so fast it's almost useless.

Check your scroll settings (1-3-6-screen-none) on the BUTTONS tab in MouseWare. If set to "none" the scroll function is turned off.
