Amazon has the Logitech MX 510 Performance Optical Gaming Mouse on sale in red for only $30.68 here. The blue is a few bucks more ($35.76) here.

what do you describe as 'the regular mouse'? do you mean logitech's basic version of their optical mice? it would be a lot simpler for you to find a description of it, but the main reason is that they are a lot more ergonomic (you have to get used to them -- took me a good week) and are pretty much more precise.

i dont care much for the colors of the 510's, but they are great mice once you use them.

I just installed my mx510 I love it! Got my blue from Zipzoomfly for 31.99 with free fedex 2 day. Cheapest price I could find for the blue. Red is 29 at monarch I think.

I would hold off on getting the 510 right now. Logitech has the 518 slated for release next month. That should drop the prices even more.

lots actually, exact same body as the mx510, but the color is a bluish silver with orange print on the buttons and rather ugly imo D:... anyway variable dpi from 400 to 800 to 1600 with a msrp of $49.99. a lot cheapter than i expected actually. i expected it to be in the same price range as the mx1000 started, but the mx518 does remain an optical mouse. the release date is still TBA, but logitechs website has a whole flash page and features page for the thing (look it up yourself im far too lazy)

Do these new style logitech mice have regular top positioned left and right click buttons(not on side on top)? because looking at all the pictures they appear to be smooth and without buttons in the normal mouse button position and moved them on side.

There are no seams on the top of the mouse, but the top mouse buttons are there. there's also a mouse4/5 on the thumb; very well designed mouse overall. had mine for almost a year now, yet to have a single problem.

EDIT: That MX518 is a really, really good-looking mouse

I picked up a MX510 on one of these Amazon deals and like it a lot. Buttons have a nice solid feel unlike those on my Explorer mouse. Great value for the price.

Does anyone really need gaudy graphics on the thumb or other buttons? When was the last time you had to look to use a mouse button? It's all done by feel.. Could have done it a little more classy, like the MX700.

Are there any difference between red and blue color? Chiefvalue is selling the red at $28.99, but $33.99 for the blue one. Monarch has the blue color cheaper at $29 though.

Can anyone tell me the difference between Blue and Red. They have about $2~4 price defference. Is the color the only difference? If so, I will buy a red one.

Thanks!

The blue seems to be more popular so they charge more for it. Other than the color, the two mice are identical...I have a red one to go with my Hell Boy gaming case.

They need to stop reskinning the same damned mouse with new features and make a corded version of the MX1000.

The Blue trim of the MX510 was added AFTER the initial sales started. Best Buy had them exclusively for about a month and a half, and the red skinned ones flooded the market afterward.

The Blue trimmed ones were introduced much later, so it stands to reason there are fewer of them out there, hence the on-par higher price.
