Sorry if I post this in the wrong forum ... I wasn't sure whether it's a hardware or software problem.

When I use my MS Outlook application, I see two panes. The top pane contains the emails that I received, and the lower pane is a preview of the email.

My problem is this. If I am reading an email in the lower pane and I use the mouse wheel to scroll down to see more information, the top pane also scrolls down. Even though the mouse pointer is within the email pane, the top pane scrolls along.

Now, if I put my mouse pointer within the top pane and scroll up and down looking at my list of emails, the lower pane (email preview) does not scroll.

Would this consider a defective mouse or something I have to do with MS Outlook? This is my first Logitech mouse and first issue I've had a problem with Outlook. The previous mouse, a different brand, I've never encounter any problems.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

that lower pane you are talking about is called the 'reading pane'. I'm going to have to think about this more, but in the mean time you can go to VIEW - READING PANE and select OFF which would sort of solve your problem.

if you try putting the reading pane on the side instead of the bottom does it do the same thing?

Yes, if I select View > Reading Pane and chose Right, it also does the same thing. It's weird.
