Back on Topic...

My MX1000 arrived yesterday and I almost have it boxed up to send it it back. Man this thing is terrible.

- The mousewheel feels like the cheapest piece of junk ever. Each click feels like a tiny piece of plastic is breaking off somewhere... it couldn't be any lighter and I can't imagine it has any durability whatsoever. There is no soft/rubber/insolated feel at all - it's plastic knobs grinding on plastic gears.

- The "high arc" design really hurts my wrist. My old Intellimouse has a low profile whereby my hand basically lies flat with only my fingers extended. Using the MX1000 for about an hour actually caused my wrist to fatigue and start getting sore!

- Button configurability?! This thing has 8 clickable buttons on it, but for the life of me I can't find a way for games to recognize ANY but mouse1 and mouse2. The thumb buttons don't show up as 4 and 5 they way they should... and mapping a keystroke using the configuration tool apparently does nothing. There is also no "scroll acceleration" (scroll super fast and you get more up/down action than normal) which is something I've gotten used to.

Over all the thing just feels cheap and I guess I'll look for something else. =/

Don't get the MX510. Well you can if you want but I would wait a month or so for the MX518. You can get the MX510 then at a price drop or just get the newer MX518. The 518 can operate at 1600 dpi while the 510 can only operate at 800.

Now that I'm using it, I really cant get used to it and can't find a comfortable enough setting for normal desktop use or gaming. I have a habit of picking up the mouse and this ones too heavy to do that, plus you cant set a show/hide desktop function on the mouse (which i use like crazy) like my other one did.

As far as accuracy and whatnot, the thing is dead on and fast, but I just cant adjust..... tear.tear....

Anyone else have similar problems? or know how to run show/hide desktop on a button?
I don't feel like repacking this thing but I think I'm gonna have to.

Any other mice you recommend? wireless isn't a must, I just got it because I heard this wireless system was the best.

Are you a lefty? :/

I though the mx1000 was too bulky. Playing FPS games with that mouse was a chore 🙁.

I picked up the mx518 and it is pretty good, though I am going to probably go back to my MS 1.1 just for the shape.
