UPS just delivered a small box from amazon.

Anyway, here are some preliminary comments:
The cables are waaaaay too short. Did I say cables? YES, I did. The receiver has a USB plug and there is a converter to plug it into PS2. But guess what, it also comes with an AC adapter (outputs 8V). Both are about 5-6' long (yeah right, as if I measured). This is extremely short. I will not be able to move my receiver to some place more convenient ; ;

It will work out of the box. The battery does have enough power. But do leave it in the cradle to charge when you got to sleep. After that, once a week should suffice, according to Logitech's numbers.

Styling:
It looks nice, feels nice, though it doesnt fit my hand as well as the MS Explorer v1 (yeah, v1, the one that came out 5 years ago). The rubberized grips are nice, but it feels cheap. I think the coating will wear off in a year judging by how it feels.

Software Installation:
When you click on setup from the CD, logitech will attempt to install 4 items: Logitech Setpoint, Musicmatch, Microsoft MediaPlayer 9 and eBay shortcut. Those familiar with Logitech's peripherals will recognize the eBay shortcut with a grin and a frown. Of course, as someone familiar with Logitech's driver and software installation, I merrily go about unchecking all but the Setpoint. BuuuuUUUT. It won't let me. So, off I went to cancel. I browsed to the Setpoint directory, and installed that only.

Software:
The button configuration\programming is no longer found under the mouse properties in control panel. It resides only in Logitech's setpoint program. You can set the buttons to: Forward, Back, Application switch, cruise up, cruise down, zoom, universal scroll, keystroke, and other. One problem I see is that there is no option to program the wheel tilt feature. Unlike the kensington software, keystroke is just that, it maps ONE KEY with modifiers (ctrl, alt, ctrl+alt). Kensington's software allows you to map a mouse button to keystrokes.

Button arrangement:
This is going to cramp my hand up something awful. I cant actually reach the "foward arrow" button on my mouse with my thumb. I can only reach the round application button which blocks it. Nor can I reach the "double forward" button with my index finger. I can only scroll since the wheel blocks it.

Cursor movement:
It's smoooooth alright. With previous optical mouse, if i fling it in one direction very fast and far (6 inches), the cursor snaps back in the opposite direction. The logitech mouse just terminates the cursor at the edge of the screen which is what it should do.
