I love the MX700 for general use and the MX500 for gaming. I like that they are basically the same mouse. If I didn't have the 500, I would own the MX510....the colors are cooool!!!!

My MX700 has been great for gaming, to each his own I guess! As far as the battery concern, I'm sure this mouse has a standard 3 year Logitech warranty just like the MX700. My MX700 had a problem with not charging in the base any more so I called up Logitech about getting warranty work. They sent me a BRAND NEW replacement MX700 in 3 days and I didn't even have to send the old one back. I don't know about the rest of you but I'm SURE I'll end up buying a new mouse in another 3 years so who cares if the battery is non-replaceable!

I'm guessing by the time this thing has battery issues, a new mouse will be out!

This thing rocks, best mouse I've ever had, no problems at all in any game, no problems with the drivers either..

Hmmm, wut do you have to tell them in order to get a brand new replacement? I bought my MX700 since almost the day it came out. It's all weared out due to all the gaming I've done, the silver paint on the clicking button came off, the rubber coating on the thumb place came off also... It would be nice if I can get a new one that way :)

PS: I consider my self a average FPS gamer, I snipes alot in UT, and found no issue with MX700, however I've also heard counter striker pros say they notice the lag and none of them use it. The biggest issue I have with MX700 is not it's refresh rate or battery life however, but how picky it is on mousing surface. It didn't work well with a red cloth mouse pad (jumping cursor, etc), so i bought two 3M Precise Optical Mousing Surface, one for my roommate as birthday gift and one for myself. My MX700 doesn't like it at all, my roommate's microsoft optical worked fine with the pad. I did alot searching afterwards regarding this issue, and found many users of MX700 have similar issue with performance mouse pads. So buyer beware I guess. Right now I use a bright colored cloth pad which works fine.

The main "draw" is that the laser will work on more surfaces than a standard LED optical mouse. That's it.

If you guys want a more accurate mouse, why not spend less and get an MX510 or a Laser Viper or Boomslang? This new laser mouse is being hyped for no reason IMO.

That's a very good point. More knee-jerk "wow! a real laser!" marketing responses at work here.

Unless it offers a real improvement in DPI or update-rate, or feel/usability, it really wouldn't offer any advantage in games.

But I do have to admit, the new thumb-buttons and left/right "nudgable" scroll wheel are neat features, just for web browsing.

When you go to DL the software for the mouse on Logitech's website it DOES mention that the software on the site doesn't include Bluetooth support, suggesting there WILL be a version with Bluetooth.

I expect a wired version will appear in due time, but Logitech wants you to spring for the cordless version sooner to give them a nice little surge in profits heading into Q4. Expect the wired version in time for the holidays, most likely. A nice little 39.99 stocking stuffer.

Why worry about Bluetooth? "Wireless USB" or "Wireless USB 2.0" will probably become the predominant wireless PC accessory attachment scheme in the near future. BT is as good as dead in the US, as far as product support. (Note, "Wireless USB" is not to be confused with "USB wireless 802.11" - totally different things.)

the only reason i'm thinking about buying this mouse is that I don't want to use a mousepad anymore.... I have a really black table which absorbs all the LED lights.

Maximum PC just did a review on the MX1000 in the latest issue. They said it feels much smoother than any other mouse out there, has 8 buttons, a tiltable scroll wheel, and also a nifty battery meter on the side.

Their only downfall they listed was that the batteries are not user replaceable. So apparently, even if you can get the batteries out yourself, you won't be able to find ones for it....

hm....Dunno if I wanna shell out $70 on this when I could get the MX700 for half the price, and it's not that much worse than the MX1000.

C4-NGen. Thread here, buy here.

Definately recommended. I use this with my MX700 and my MX500. Best stuff out there.

Yea I had the same problem. It just didn't feel right no matter how much I tweaked it. Installing Itouch made it even worse.

I don't know about you guys, but unless you try to use an optical mouse on a mirror or on glass, you shouldn't really have that much trouble with its tracking abilities. I'm sure as heck not gonna shell out $70+ for a mouse that won't be any more accurate than my MX700 and doesn't have replaceable batteries, with the only advantage being that it works on more surfaces.

no, the old mice aren't perfect at all. surfaces like my desk with its clear plastic writing mat throw normal mx engine mice into fits. there are uses for better mice

You can use Microsoft Mouseware with Logitech mice also, I do on my mx700. You might lose a little bit of special features but I can't even remember what.

I love wireless. It's a personal preference really, don't knock it just because some people say they don't like it. I am a huge gamer also, but I only paid like 35$ for mine.

I ordered one about a week ago from amazon...though it won't ship until the 20th. I had an amazon gift card to burn from my amazon visa points so I figured why not.

The main selling point for me wasn't the fact that it was a laser mouse, as I use a C4 mousemat so I have no troubles with surface...but the 4-way scroll and usable 8th button. I use the MX500 now and have no problems playing any games, so I don't expect any changes, good or bad, from the 1000. I will however notice a nice improvement with the 4-way scroll and the new placement of the 8th button, making it actually usable now.

I don't see the point in using an 8 button mouse with no drivers, heh. Wireless or wired, makes no difference to me, I like MS wireless better due to having AA batteries instead of rechargable, but I don't see it being a problem. I also like the feel of the 1000. I stopped by comp usa to check it out, and it does feel quite nice, and looks pretty cool actually.

I've owned several different logitech mice and always just installed their latest drivers and have never had a problem with logitech drivers. Dont know why people claim they suck as they seem to work fine for me.

Im actually thinking of buying a 2nd mx700 so that I can leave one in the cradle.
$35....

Bluetooth will hurt the performance of this mouse. It wasn't that good for the mx900.
