Logitech Headsets.

I was wondering if anyone could comment on either the g35 or the g930 as far as their audio quality. I would consider myself an audiophile, but my PC is primarily for gaming, and I'm sick and tired of dealing with drivers issues on my xfi prelude.

Do these headsets sound any good at all? I can't decide if I want to buy the g930 or not mainly because if the audio is sub par I will be out 160 bucks.

I have had the G35 since January and I love it (them?). I am not sure I would want them just to listen to music, but for gaming, I have not found anything better.

I run an i5/750, 8GB, Nv 480, Vista 64.

I mostly play BC2, but I have used these on a lot of games and they always sound great.

A few minor points:

1. They are a bit fragile. The joint on one side broke about a month ago, but Logitech was real easy about replacing them.

2. If they sound really static-y, there is a MS patch to eliminate that.

I have great sound for gaming, a top quality mic, etc.

I have a g35, and it sounds pretty good to me, but I'm not an audiophile so my standards may be different than others. The only thing I don't really like about them is that they feel stiff. They don't wiggle much. The headphones grasp my head (I do have a large head) so after about an hour of having them on, I have to take them off because they are uncomfortable. Another comment about stiff, the cable is very thick and wrapped, so its quite sturdy and seems like you have filled straw going to your computer. You won't have to worry about getting it crimped or breaking.

i have a set of razer cacharias. they've been much better for me than any of the other logitech sets i've used.

a lot of people like the audio technica ath-ad700 headphones for gaming. I have the z-5500 and to me the ad700 sound better than those, with the exception of bass impact. there's reviews of them all over the place, just hit up youtube or head-fi.org. they ran me about $85 shipped from amazon.

Don't respond with headphones when OP is asking about headsets. They are two different animals. Headsets include a microphone. Headphones do not.

he was being silly. 🙂

And to answer the op's question: they'll work..however, if I were you..

I'd grab a pair of pc-350's 🙂 Get a headphone amp. Then enjoy. Amazing audio quality for music, movies, AND games, plus a flat out amazing mic.

he can always get a separate mic. why should he limit himself to headsets when he doesn't have to?

because separate mics are an inferior solution. boom mics are annoying and the distance makes the difference between a speaker phone and a regular phone. clip mics are also annoying. headset mic is the most comfortable and sure method of communication...you don't have spend your time worrying about your head position before you speak.

I saw someone take a pair of ATH-AD700's and wire in their own mic. Pretty awesome mod if you ask me - relatively inexpensive headphones with great sound and a very inexpensive mic.

I need to look that up again...

I have G35's and I am what I would consider rough on them. I have been happy with them. not great by any respect, they are a tad raspy have a static issue (going to search for that MS fix) but the fake surround is really good. and Comfort is great for me (LARGE head)

took ~ 2 weeks to break in.

I would buy the wireless ones given the choice of the two. the wired have a 120' long USB (ok 10') and I HATE it.

I dont think there is a better headset option on the market that is "surround"
