Logitech Gaming Mice Any Good?

I'm building a $2500 gaming rig, so I figure if these Logitech gaming mice really make a difference I might flip for one:

I don't want wireless because I use Linux, BUT that's where the buck stops. I like to play some games in Linux from time to time, especially Americas Army and then the mouse software won't work in it, but only Windows, that is why I've only used basic mice before and they have worked great for me.

So personally not sure if they hype is worth it.

I'm interested in the MX 518 or the G5 Laser.

Any thoughts here?

THANKS

P.S. Actually there seems to be some type of Linux support for these two:

Forgot to mention with the G5 Laser are the weights helpful, but also it has a better DPI, so a better mouse possibly?

i dont c much of a difference between the mx518 and the G5... besides the G5's 2000dpi as opposed to mx518's 1600dpi... ive tried both and there not alot of difference... if u alreayd have a mx518 therer no need to get the G5 but if u have anything less than the mx518... then the G5 is a worthy upgrade.. 🙂

Im using the mx510 under freebsd (also works under linux) and bought a mx518 for a friend. Highly recommended, best mouse Ive used.

Cool thanks, I'm going to buy it as well. 😉

Not really. I've used them all; razers, mx510, 518, G5, G7, etc. and still get shot and fall off ladders and stuff.

Bottom line is if you suck as FPS the mouse will not help you. 🙂

get the 518 or 510. They have a forward and backward brower button, where as the newest generation only has one side button. To me on my MX510 the forward and backwards are invaluable.

MX518 for me.

I love the "shift on the fly" in-game DPI changes. It works very well, and I'm taking out a LOT more Nazi's, quicker in COD2 with it!!!!

I have the MX700 right now. Not sure if you'd consider it a gaming mouse but i do game with it. All i can say is logitech mice FTW. Its very comfortable; they know how to do mice.

Does it make a difference?
*shrug* not much for me but i just have some optical mouse and not a gaming mouse.
