Logitech G9 Gaming Mouse for $40.49 AR at Amazon

Very nice mouse for the price, I got mine about a year ago for this price AR and have been very impressed with it. Just an FYI though for those who absolutely have to have the latest and greatest, Logitech has recently released an updated version called the G9x which increases polling rate slightly from 3200 to 4000 dpi I believe.

My only major gripes are that the thumb buttons are angled away from your thumb and have a very low profile relative to the chassis. This makes them much less usable imo, and sometimes results in lift on the left side due to uneven pressure when pressing them.

The other issue I've had with the "fat body" rubberized chassis is that the rubberized texture starts to peel over time. This may bother some people, as your mouse may feel "dirty" in the areas that start peeling. For me this was around the thumb landing and where my right ring finger rested on the right side of the body. It annoyed me enough that I switched to the other body, even though the fat body chassis is more comfortable in my hand.

One thing you'll notice right away is that the huge teflon or poly-whatever pads on the G9 make it glide incredibly well. The large pads also tend to capture and hold small particles of sand or dirt however. If you ever feel as if something is snagging on the pads and causing friction, its probably because there's a tiny piece of dirt lodged in the pad. Running your finger over the pad or cleaning it isn't enough, look very carefully, you may see a scratch line as the particle migrated across the pad's surface. Look at the end of that line and see if you find a spec of sand there. I've found 2-3 of these, the first time it drove me nuts until I finally, figured it out! 🙂

After using a wireless mouse I can't go back to wired, but logitech hasn't made one since the G7 (I require a gaming mouse). My next will probably be the MS X8 unless Logi comes back into the wireless gaming fold.

Unless things have advanced over the past few years gaming mouse and wireless do not go together.

May have to pick this up.. my G5 is gettin a bit scroungy...

That's a lot better deal than the $70 Circuit City was selling them for a week before they closed - but hey, they were marked down from $225.

Actually, the G7 is an excellent wireless gaming mouse.

I love my G7. The only problem is that the batteries only last about 3 hours now (~2 years old) so I'm constantly switching them out. It would cost me $15+ to replace the two batteries. For $40 shipped, I'll give this G9 a shot.

i'm still using my mx518. no complaints.

pretty fugly lookin' mouse, that g9. not a shape i think i'd want, looks like a palm-dragger, which is only excusable for notebook mice.

I have one, and I love it. I paid ~$80 when they first came out.

The shape is a bit odd, but you get used to it quickly. The extra DPI is nice, the weight adjustments are a good touch, and I love the "flywheel" scroll vs. "clicky" scroll. The only problem I've had is the scroll wheel getting caked with dirt over time and not spinning freely, the mouse feet starting to wear out, and the finish on the wide grip peeling after about a year of use. I contacted Logitech, jumped through a few small hoops, and they labeled it as defective and sent me a free replacement.

It's small and smooth enough to easily control with your finger tips. People used to palming mice may be disappointed by the small size and shape.

My mouse died this afternoon so I'm in.

It looks ugly but it's extremely well reviewed and the price is right so we'll see how it goes.

Thanks OP.

Love everything about this mouse except for the wheel. Scrolling is fine, but the pressure required to do a middle click is a LOT more than any of my other mice. Not an issue if you don't middle click a lot, but I do (opening new tabs and I typically assign a common action to it in games).

It's an excellent mouse for $40 if that won't bother you, though!

hmm this might just be the right mouse for me to jump to from my optical Boomslang. My only question is how's the laser comparing to the latest gen infrared? Are there still complains about that?

nvm scratch that, I might as well look more into this:

update... might as well bite this because I am never gonna see the mamba at a reasonable price this year...
