I have an mx1000 and love it. It goes through it's charge quite a bit faster than my mx700 did but it is also a lot more precise for gaming than the mx700 was also.

Neither. Get the MX610. It's much much much more ergonomic. The older mice are shaped like melted jelly beans. Volume control on the mouse is nice too. http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=211167

Just don't expect the LEDs to work with anything other than Outlook and MSN messenger.

Edit: Actually I thought the MX1000 was something else. It does have a nice looking shape. The G7, MX510, etc etc, all have that terrible form though.

MOD i fixed, and no i didnt take the weight out, its not that heavy, i took out the bearing in the wheel so it doesnt click anymore it is liek a free flywheel, its pretty awsome

i prefer the original mx type shape of the g7. the mx1000 had cheap feeling buttons and odd shape. and complaints of bugginess
still, the g7 doesn't have the button setup that was perfect on the 500-518
