Logitech G5 Mouse - Issues

I've had my G5 mouse for several years. I think it's a good mouse...It's an upgrade from the, best mouse ever IMO, MX518.

Ever since Windows 7 I can't get the custom resolution options to stay when in a game (BC2, BF3 Beta, COD:MW2). Is anyone else having this issue? If not, what am I doing wrong?

If I had to replace this mouse, which the mouse is working fine outside of a game so I'm not sure why, but if I had to...any recommendations for a close match to these mice (sub $50)?

I haven't gotten any of Logitech's profiling software to work correctly (plain Setpoint, fancier G-series mouse software, nor G-series keyboard software). Luckily for them, I've never had much luck with competitors' attempts at such things, either. In the best case, a couple alt-tabs screws it all up.

The G400 uses the keyboard software, which should allow you manual selection of a profile (not OotB, but with the right options set), but if you prefer the G5 over the MX518, I'm not sure it would be a good choice (always-on angle snapping).

I just set the games themselves up to work best with a standard set of DPIs on the mouse.

Gaming DPI settings? I tell SetPoint to use app detection and add the game .exes so it switches over when I start playing. Not the games you're playing but I haven't had issues with STALKER, Crysis 1-2, L4D, Portal etc.
