Logitech g300

Anyone have a hands on with this? Just came across this while reading a review of the new mmo mice they have. Looks like it doesn't have that annoying slanted hump they are sticking on most of their products as it's supposed to be ambidextrous and I'm highly interested in reviews of it because of that.

I have one and it's a great mouse. Three different modes that you can assign buttons in. Very light weight mouse if you're into that style. I'm very happy using it.

decent shape and interesting button layout (lots of buttons for such a small mouse), but IIRC its sensor performance is subpar

some notable flaws:
-has prediction/angle snapping ie "helps" you draw straight lines whether you like it or not
-sensor position is not centered at bottom of the mouse despite being an ambidextrous shape
-tracking performance often yields jittery tracking on various cloth pads

basically instead of making a smaller ambidextrous mouse that could hang with the G400 they decided to cut corners to make the G300 a cheap POS targeted more at entry level users than those looking for an excellent ambidextrous finger grip oriented mouse

Well that sucks. Would love to just buy a new razer copperhead, but they too seem more interested in making oversized units like logitech.

You can't disable Angle Snapping in Setpoint or anything?

I own the G700, and I have that feature disabled. It also has the sensor in the "top" half of the mouse as opposed to the middle, which is a little strange, but I haven't had any difficulty aiming or moving.

And I'm confused about the sensor position. Searching it on google, it's in the middle (albeit off-centered). Some other ambidextrous mice it looks like they are in the middle too (typically dead-center). In general, I've actually never known a mouse to have the sensor "at the bottom" - it's usually in the middle. I know the G700 is odd since it's toward the "top" of the mouse, i.e. located near the fingertips instead of by the palm or knuckles.

There is no angle snapping on the G300. It's the G400 model that has it permanently enabled (just like the MX518 it replaced). The G500/700 have it as an option.

The G300 is pretty good value for money, although if I was you and was also looking at the lower end of the gaming-mice market, I would rather go for the Cooler Master Xornet. It is about 25-35% cheaper than the G300 and offers performance very similar to the G300. And if you have a 'claw-grip' as I do, then the CM Xornet's design would be perfect for your needs...

Here's a full review on the CM Xornet from overclock3d: http://www.overclock3d.net/reviews/input_devices/cm_storm_xornet_review/1

it's got a large protrusion on the right side I don't like, and only about a buck cheaper on amazon right now.
