Logitech Finally listened...

I have been bugging them for months to release this.

But it's a bit pricy.

This started from my love for the cordless freedom optical but I did not want to pay $100 for a keyboard. (I know about the hot deals posts but I am in canada 🙁)

So I have bugged logitech to release just the keyboard (corded was my preference) and it seems they have finally caved in.

Just wanted to share as I know of a couple of others who want one of these.

Rite, so I have one of these.

Looking at the picture, and specs for the "elite" and then comparing them to mine...all I can really see different is the color. OH YEAH, also $20 price increase...

Am I missing something?... or are they just trying to repackage the same thing and make money?

I like the color difference 😉, although I have the same keyboard as Beverage. I have the cordless freedom pro on my families comp but now i want this black one! Hehe, how much do you think I could sell the current one I have? The Internet Navigator. Think $20 CDN is to much? hehe

I have to admit, I love my keyboard, but I think I like the black one better...but....

It does seem kinda cheap of Logitech to jack the price $20 if all they did was give the keyboard a new paintjob...

Hopefully there is some super-secret bonus feature they're not telling us about...

Maybe It has $$$$ hidden inside!!??!!

I like the looks of the new Logi kbds, but I've always really disliked their too-soft feel (not to metion that it's unsafe for your carpals). Do the keys fight back a little more these days?

Zepper where did you hear this? It would be an interesting article to read if you could link it!

Thx.

Nope. Not on sale. I paid the full $50. I'm building a new PC and it has a black case, so I've been looking for a good black keyboard. I hadn't seen this one before on previous visits. Yeah, it's pricey, but it fits what i was looking for perfectly.

[EDIT] Snapped a quick picture of it: Logitech Elite KB

fairly soft...not the softest I've ever typed on...but I HATE the noise with older keyboards...so even if i ruin my wrists, at least my ears won't suffer

hmm, none on ebay yet.... i wonder how much they'll go for on there $40~ish...I might have to consider it...assuming i could get $20? for my current one...guess i'll just have to wait and see

Thraxen that's a pretty cool pic! Here's a shot of my other comp w/ the cordless freedom: link.
Beverage: I see your trying to do what i'm doing! Hehe. $30 US? (that black is just so hard to stay away from....argh) 😀

hmm, The media keys at the top right and left appear to have been slightly rearranged, and the volume looks like it became a dial instead of an "up" button and a "down" button....

also there's a fourth "lock light" below the volume control.....what might that be for Thraxen??

Jo,

That's a very nice and clean set-up. I like it. My desk is currently a mess, so I won't be taking any pics 🙂 Maybe after I get my new PC built.

"also there's a fourth "lock light" below the volume control.....what might that be for Thraxen??"

It's the "F-lock" indicator. I assume this is a "function" lock. Guess I'll have to actually hook it up to figure out what it does.

YOU HAVEN'T USED IT YET !?!?!?!

MY GOD, what are you waiting for?!....

GO GO GO..

or send it to me!!! I'll test it out for ya...

This site Workstation Ergonomics and others plus the common knowledge that the finger closing muscles/tendons are MUCH stronger than the finger opening ones (kind of like an alligator's jaw <g>) . IMO, key pressure should be firm! much higher than most currently available kbds (try an OLD Televideo terminal kbd for an example--the more recent ones are just PC kbds). This will tire your hands so that you take a break and the stronger springing will help lift your fingers after the key strokes--so your " finger opening" m&t don't have to do all the work themselves. Was CTS ever heard of in the days of manual typewriters???
.bh.
Thought I pulled it out of my a__, eh?
P.S. If you can find one of these old Keytronic kbds (KB101-C, KB101 Plus-C, KB3270 Plus or Trak 101) they still have the 2.5 and 3 ounce pressure dome kits on the Keytronic web site under discontinued items. Or you could pull the silicone sheet out of your kbd and stick it in the freezer for 10 min <g> . Find out what a real man's kbd is like...bh.
