Logitech 5500 Speaker problem.

recently upgrade my pc (new mobo+gpu) and Ive noticed my 5500's arent playing propery now.

I have them set to 5.1 using creative audigy zs card.

In the individual speaker tests, only front left + right play, others dont.
When playing music in media player, all speakers work, however when I change the front/rear slider to all rear, all speakers stop working.

I have tried plugging the front left speaker wire into rear right plug and it plays out of the rear, however when the rear is plugged into the front (FL->RL, RL->FL) the same thing happens.

I called logitech support and they told me It must have been due to my motherboard upgrade which is ridiculous. I have also tried this with my onboard sound card with the same results.

All plugs are plugged in correctly, however there is no change in sound when the orange and black cables are unplugged (though cables were bad, but I tested black and orange plugs with green cable and no change) I have also tried all the effects and settings on the controller and no change.

I am using Asus A8RMVP Deluxe Mobo with newest bios. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like you have stereo mirroring enabled, so all the channels just play what's coming out of the left and right channels. Maybe disable that first and then see if the individual speaker test still fails?

Honestly I'm afraid you can't blame Logitech until you've reinstalled Windows and the drivers. Perhaps create a small extra partition and install windows onto that and try from there. Changing a motherboard is a VERY big deal, its amazing you haven't had to reformat already. Running Linux and changing the mobo is one thing (I did that and it was fine) but when I tried to get into Windows, I couldn't even get to the User screen. Windows is pretty picky about what you change.

....Seeing this way too often and I'm still wondering how it isn't common knowledge by now. Like soccerballtux said, you MUST reinstall windows when changing out motherboards! Otherwise, things stop working...like speakers so don't blame Logitech. Only very rarely can you not reinstall, and that's not even advised.

what they said, reinstall.

I recently switched my P4 game server from an IC7 to a P4C800 Deluxe, and it was the FIRST board I have ever
had boot up on the same OS install with both boards. I was very lucky as I had to get some info off the OS partition.

Along those lines, you are very lucky to get your OS to work. I have read about a way to use Win XP repair console to fix XP
for your new mobo, but you are going to have issues galore, especially with drivers and the registry.

I probably should have mentioned that. I thought that was a given. I have reinstalled windows and created an image via trueimage and have been reinstalling that image numerous times.

The windows/image reinstall is pretty much a monthly thing and I am still trying to figure out a solution.

Logitech told me to test speakers on another computer.... I don't have "another" computer so I will be taking my speakers down and transporting them to a friend to test later this week. I am hoping to GOD they don't work, so I can eliminate this problem and RMA it. If it is the mobo I have no ideas what to do.

In all honesty I wouldn't even mind paying to ship the whole thing back if I was assured that the new speakers would not have this problem as this is the last issue I am having with my newly assembled rig.

Yes.. It was set to 5.1. Where do I change stereo mirroring? I have not seen any options for that

EAX Console where CMSS options are set. There are CMSS, CMSS2, stereo mirroring, and (I believe) an off option.

Ya I've changed all options in EAX console. No go.

Try flipping the switch on the back and plugging one of the 1/8th" stereo plugs into your CD player or MP3 player or a radio. That should give you sound. If the control unit doesn't play anything at all via these black/green/orange inputs, with the switch flipped either way, then looks like it won't work. If it does at all, its your computers problem. Its possible the card just doesn't like your motherboard.

Do you have it set to the sateliate option?

Not sure.. haven't seen that option anywhere, right now I'm testing on my onboard card and I don't see a satellite option.

I will test different inputs via black/green/orange cables but I doubt I will see any change as both sound card and onboard sound were producing the same problem (I doubt both could be broken)

Is there any chance you have a conflict between the onboard and Audigy? Any mistakingly installed drivers, disabled onboard? If you're testing both sound "cards", I'm going to assume that you've installed both driver sets.

RMA'd to logitech. Shipping the controller, they are shipping all new unit. What should I do with my satellites?
