Login Menu Sounds

Hi,

I just installed a fresh copy of XP Pro, with all the updates. I eventually discovered a problem with the Nvidia unified drivers and have since corrected the problem.

What I'm experencing now is that the login screen, the sounds associated with it are no longer working. This is a relatively new feature, or, at least, new to me. I like the sounds it makes, bleep, bloop; but since installing the unified drivers, (actually, always), sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

Can anyone tell me how you can manipulate the sounds associated with the login screen?

thanks,

John

Start > Settings > Control Panel > Sounds and Audio devices >Sounds
You can pick any sound for any action there.
That means any sound. Songs, noises, any sounds you download too.

And that's been there in every version of Windows since 1.0.

BillB2,

thanks for your direction. I checked this area and it shows no problems, while the sounds I'm after are already chosen, defaulted for log on and off. Yet, while every other sound seems to be in order, when it comes to the log on and/or off screens, it often doesn't work. I'd like to find the reason, but I don't know how.

Again, thanks,

John

What triggers these sounds? What would cause this function to be intermittent? Anyone?

thanks,

John
