logic problem help...

Consider the following 10 statements:

exactly one of these statements is false
exactly two ..................................is false
exactly three.................................is false
.
.
.
.
exactly ten.....................................is false.

which of these are propositions, and for ones that are, establish the truth value of each.

now, in class, I learned that proposition is a sentence whos truth value can be determined.

with those 10 sentences, I can't really determine the truth value, because the sentence doesn't really say anything about pretty much anything.....does it?

so I think that to answr this question, I would say that none of those are propositions......

am I right?

I'm not sure. Its just a guess.

Well 9 of these statements are wrong because they are mutually exclusive statements, I've never taken any logic classes so I don't know what a truth value is.... maybe you can make something of my observation.

ok, so assuming that 1 of these statements is true, that means that all 9 are false.........

what if one of them is false, hen that means all 9 are false??

confused....please expalin..

so when the question asks are they propositions, and which one is, and determine the truth value, how do I answer it? It doesn't matter which one is true or false right?

If I had to guess off the top of my head, I'd say that they are all propositions, all of which are false except for the 9 of 10 one. If one of them is true, then all 9 others are false. 1 of them must be true because your 10 statements cover all possible truths. SO the one true statement must be 9 of 10. Again, just a guess.
