So like others have suggested I'm creating a single thread for all my boring blog update posts I do here.

Busy at the mall today. Mostly parents and their 5 year olds dressed up as ghosts and dinosaurs trick or treating. When did they start the trend of trick or treating at malls and other retail stores?

I think it started at about the same time parents became very similar to helicopters, hovering and worrying about the safety of their children.

You know, the neighborhood streets are dangerous yo. Why dare risk the safety of your children on the streets, when you can take them to a perfectly safe and boring place?

Yeah, it`s been a while now from what I remember. Ex-in-laws have told me how they get fewer and fewer kids every year, partly because of things like this.

Fine with me, helps keep the rugrats off the streets.

I find Halloween annoying, but I dislike seeing it's decline. Trick or treating at the mall is the epitome of lame. Kids belong on the street, getting candy, and getting in trouble. It was one of my favorite days growing up, and the mall doesn't come close to replicating that experience.

I agree actually, I was just joking. What I've noticed is the number retards drunk on the street has increased greatly and the number of kids, who are the ones that should really be celebrating, are trapped in malls.

That's creepy. Halloween is a night for little kids to walk big-eyed through the dark neighborhood, for bigger kids to race through the night grabbing as much loot as they can, and for even bigger kids to smash pumpkins. The mall has no place in this tradition.

I heard of some places doing "trunk-or-treating". They line up cars in a parking lot and have the kids just go from car to car.

Either do it right or ban it. Don't be stupid.

That's big with the religious schools in the area. That's /almost/ as lame as the mall, but at least the kids are outside.

Trunk or Treat results in more candy in a far shorter time. I wish to hell they had this when I was a kid. Line up 100 cars at the mall parking lot with open trunks full of candy? I would have went home with more candy than I could have gotten if I "walked" from 6 until 9. More candy with less work is a win/win.

Nah. The candy's only part of the equation. The real fun is wandering around at night. The lots were around ~1 acre, so the candy haul was on the small side, but it was fun going out in the cool fall air.

This. Though for me the halls were quite sizeable because I stayed up late and hit every fucking house I could :p

See my other thread with the pics of the halloween costumes from the SkyTrain and bus from yesterday. A hell of a lot of those people were just drunk ass teenagers screaming their heads off and throwing shit around.

Beaver Lake is slowly drying up which is sad to see. Though there's actually a real beaver in there now!

There is a store in the mall I work at that only sells these:

http://www.lotusseats.com/lang_english/index.html.

It's a small hole in the wall shop with 2 sales guys dressed in suits with a row of toilets down one wall. There is even a bathroom in the back where you can try one out. There is a demo unit out front in the mall that has a sign on it that reads, try me, touch me. These 2 guys just hang out on the empty sales floor all day and sell these toilet seats.
