Thanks in advance, here is my problem I have blue screen lockups mostly while I am on the internet, I'll be clicking on pages not doing anything special then all of a sudden BAM the screen locks up and a ctrl-alt-delete is the only way to get out of it, The blue screen says the system is busy and is waiting for a close program box to appear. I usually have to close my browser and then reopen a new one. I have already loaded all the new Windows updates, have tried different video card drivers, have reinstalled the VIA 4 in 1's. Games ansd mostly anything alse besides the internet run without a hitch. I have never crashed a game that I know of.I have even reinstalled Win98, and it still didn't help. I'm not sure where alse to go, It can't be hardware cause like I said games and other stuff I never have a problem with, any ideas????

I think your problem could have 2 causes.

1. A software conflict between your browser and some other application currently running on your computer. To get a clean boot: start/Programs/accessories/system tools/system information - choose tools/system editor. Then click selectiv start and unmark the autostart property. Now you should have a more or less clean boot(after restart) and this ought to be the remedy if you have a software conflict.

2. You didn't mention if you where on the Internet using a modem or a network card, but there might be a hardware conflict even if the device manager says that everything is fine. I would suggest that you change the PCI slot and reinstall the driver for the modem or network card.

Since you have no trouble playing games I want to exclude trouble with your power supply or heat problems with your processor or graphiccard.

Good Luck.

Thanks for the reply, I'll try that at home, I was on dial-up last month but I switched to cable access two weeks ago and I have the same problem I was hoping when I switched the problem would disappear but it didn't.so I am pretty sure the it isn't related to hardware since I went from a ISA modem to a PCI NIC. I have also tried both netscape and IE, and that didn't help they both pretty much do the same thing.
