switch to smartkey

This. I did this with my house and when I have to go out of town, I rekey the front door with a different key and give that key to my neighbor so he can feed our cats. Then when we get back, I just rekey the lock back to my original key.

Good locks - rekey
Bad locks - buy better locks or rekey

Came to say this. If you already have cheap locks then just buy new ones. If they are decent then either re-key yourself or take them all to Locksmith/Lowes/HD and have them do it.

I started buying the Kwickset Smartkey locks. They are anti bump and you can buy them in everything from their low end and high end offerings. So when I replace a knob or deadbolt, I can key to the current house key and if I need to change the keying, I can just use one of the default keys that came with one of the new locks and use the smart key feature of the Kwiksets to change instantly to the new keying.

I think that is about as low cost as you are going to get.
