Anyone knows how much locksmith charge for opening a dead bolt? Any shady practices to look out for?

Assuming you are locked out and can't just remove the lock and take it to him and have it re-keyed, drill it out and buy a new dead bolt.
But don't let waggy install it.

No idea about your local rates, but my neighbor just had a locksmith come and pick a lock in his house. (lost the key) Cost him $65.

The locksmith we've used over the years charges ~$50 just to come out, then, depending on the job, by the hour for labor, or by the piece. (re-keying locks)

Yeah, I've gotta agree with Olds. I'm not sure how much it would cost to have it rekeyed at the locksmith. We had to do that with my wife's car, but it was many years ago and the locksmith was returning a favor.

Will get a cordless drill to open it, the investment is better than getting a locksmith.

A corded drill would probably be an even better investment.

If you can get to the inside of the door (never said you were locked out) all it takes to remove the dead bolt is to remove two screws.

Beat me to it.

After removing it, go buy a new one and install that one, it should be cheaper than a locksmith.

This is the #1 reason why you shouldn't have any outdoor outlets.
