Locksmith prices????

Left my keys in my gym bag at work, I didn't realize till I was already home. I live an hour away.

$85 - to come to my place
$420 - to drill the two locks which they supposedly could not pick
$170 - for the replacement locks

total: $670

This is in NYC. What the eff man, these guys are so shady. When you call on the phone they tell you it's 85. I called the place again to make sure the dude they sent wasn't giving me fakek prices so he could pocket the money, and the guy on the phone told me 85 again, then I had to ask him 10 different questions in order to get him to tell me all the things they charge you for, and he got pissed and was like "that's the price, you want the service or no?". I hung up on him because he didn't realize i already had his henchman over at my place fixing the lock. So fucking pissed right now. I don't know anyone in brooklyn (where i live) who i could give my spare to.

Just get a room at the Waldorf next time for less money. Pick up your keys the next day at work.

They're out celebrating right now.

ETA - I'd sleep in my same clothes in the work parking lot for the next day before I paid that much money to get into my apartment. Either drive the car back or take the taxi back. But no way in hell would I pay that money.

Hurt so good
Come on baby make it hurt so good
Sometimes love don't feel like it should
You make it hurt so good

I'd have gone back to work.. seriously. Yeah it's an extra 2 hour out of your way, but seriously man... you paid $670.

Couldn't you call the landlord, building manager or super?

I'm not sure why, but he doesn't have a key to my apartment. I locked myself out once and found that out, but let myself in by kicking in my window AC unit. After doing that i realized how easy it was for someone to break in that way and fixed that issue. That fucked me over.

Complete bullshit. They could have picked the locks. Instead they ripped you off.

You should have broken into your home, since you are not in Texas, because if you were in Texas your neighbor could have murdered you.

Tell me you didn't actually pay over $500 for something like that. That's worth $85, maybe.

Oh, btw, Crooklyn.

These fuckers actually start the work before telling you all the charges. They don't tell you you have to pay for new locks until after they drill through your old ones. On the phone they tell you 85. Then when they're there they tell you how much "for each lock". After they drill it turns out to be that price was how much to break those locks, and you have to pay for the new ones. It kind of happens too fast for you to make a decision to go to a hotel or something. I did agree to the 420, but at that point i just wanted to get in and go to sleep. They know this and take advantage of it.
