locked at 61hz refresh rate

Hacka

i got a x1800xl and recently the dvi connection on my card wont work anymore.. i tried a few different monitors and it doesnt work. the vga does though 🙁

any way to fix that?

Also.. now my monitor seems to be stuck at 61hz for some weird reason. 🙁

1440x900 is widescreen, no? Seems likely that either the card or the monitor is limited to that refresh rate at that particular resolution. The fact that the DVI out doesn't work indicates the card may be the problem as well.

well i checked newegg for this review... out of 375 review.. only 1 person mentioned this

does a low refresh rate hurt fps?

so ill have to start playing games in 1024x768 ? wtf

could this be caused by the dvi ?

"the 5ms refresh rate is a great feature when used with the dvi."

😕

It is my tentative understanding that all LCD's are locked at 60Hz? Any LCD I've ever been on hooked up through DVI is at 60Hz...!?!?

the 5ms is the response time, really has nothing to do with refresh rates. While not all LCD's are locked at 60hz, any monitor's refresh rate ability varies with the resolution you expect it to output.

BSkip22 is correct that a 60hz refresh rate isn't important on LCD's, because they don't suffer from the flicker effect so prevalent with CRT monitors. If you think the 60hz refresh rate is limiting your framerate, just turn off vsync in your game, although 60fps should be sufficient for just about any game, I would think.
