Ha. A few years back, my mom was rear-ended by a gypsy cab. The black woman, who was supposedly in the back seat of the car, tried sueing us and the car service company for $1 million a piece. Lets see, she lived in the ghetto, was on welfare and had no job. She wasn't injured or anything. Case never went to trial, what a frivolous lawsuit...

What does the plaintiff's race or financial status have to do with this, if she was not injured? I agree that the suit was probably frivolous, but I find your characterization of it pretty distasteful.

Actually, I would suggest not saying anything more in this thread, or just deleting the thread. I don't think talking about such things publicaly and giving out your opinion is such a good idea. What if the other party read this, they could probably find some way to use your words against you. They might search for your past threads and posts and try to draw up a conclusion. Just my opinion.

This is good advice. Frankly I can't imagine any jury would find that you were not negligent if you fell asleep and rear-ended someone, and the major issue here is the amount of damages, but it is still not a good idea to make public admissions of responsibility in an accident.
