Exactly why I never spew out garbage on subjects I know nothing about.
I've been researching manic depression for 7 years, ever since the first time I dealt with a manic person (my dad). I've met too many people who claim they're "bipolar" or use it as an insult without really knowing the meaning. Just wait till you or a loved one has a real manic episode, then you'll see why you should worry. I guarantee you nearly every kid who says he/she is "depressed" or "bipolar" is suffering from what ALL of them suffer from - teenage angst. It took me a while to separate that from the true symptoms of depression. You don't "snap" at people because you're depressed.

<< and now my fvcking sister is yelling that my radio is too loud so now my dad is yelling at me to turn it down!!!! >>

You know, no offense meant, but I understand why they want you to turn it down rather well, I think.
This, I have to admit, is a real problem for me. People turn their music on everywhere. I dislike it so much. Why don't they use headphones? They're inexpensive, after all.

Y'know, I was expecting to read this thread and find out that your dad keeps coming home drunk, or that he cheated on your mom, or maybe something to the full extent of, like, he beat you as a child and now comes crawling back asking for forgiveness.

You're saying you hate your dad, and using so much obscenity it only shows immaturity and unintelligence, because he yelled at you for lending his software to a friend without asking? OK, let's say I'm wrong and it's your software, and you have a perfectly legitimate, legal reason for lending it or whatever, still; if you "hate your fvcking dad" because of sh!t like this, you're a spoiled asshole. Grow up, you ungrateful selfish twit. :|

By the way, if you were my son, and you told me to fvck off, I'd smack you so hard you'd never remember it.

<< major depression phase of this fvcking bipolar disorder. >>

So is that a clinical diagnosis from a Psychiatrist or are you just trying to find a crutch?
Manic Depression doesn't set in until the 20's for most males. I think you're just a whiny little b!tch. Don't even start with me unless you have hardcore evidence to back yourself up. My dad is bipolar, my grandfather was bipolar, my dead half-brother was bipolar, and so is my other half-brother. Manic Depression is my life and it sickens me to see any kid with an attitude problem bring that up without knowing what he's talking about.

Bipolar Disorder

Symptoms

Bipolar disorder causes extreme moods, from feeling overly energetic (mania) to feeling very sad or having low energy (depression). Common symptoms of these mood swings are as follows:

Mania symptoms

Symptoms of mania may include:

Feeling extremely happy (elated or euphoric) or very irritable. ME
Thinking very highly of yourself or your abilities (inflated self-esteem). not me
Not needing as much sleep as usual (may feel rested after three hours of sleep). ME
Talking more than usual.ME
More active than usual.ME
Having a hard time concentrating due to experiencing too many thoughts at once (racing thoughts).ME
Easily distracted by sights and sounds.ME
Acting impulsively or doing reckless things, such as going on shopping sprees, driving recklessly, getting into foolish business ventures, or having frequent or indiscriminate sex (sometimes without protection). ME

Depression symptoms

Symptoms of depression may include:

Slowed thoughts and speech due to low energy. ME
Difficulty concentrating, remembering, and making decisions. ME
Changes in eating and sleeping habits leading to too much or too little eating or sleeping. ME

There is mental illness on both sides of my family. Primarily on my mom's side however. She is not bipolar but she goes into severe depression, she has eating disorders (almost killed herself due to internal bleeding from not eating, she was in the hospital last year infact), and she attempted suicide when she was younger. Her brother also suffered from severe depression but that's all i know.... also her uncle sexually mollested her when she was a kid(she never did report it though which I can't fvcking understand why). also my mom, my aunt, and my uncle all have reason to believe that he killed their grandmother. she was expected to live several more months but she mysteriously died the day after she wrote her will giving almost everything she owned to him(he did everything for her at the end but i don't think it was out of generosity). they think he suffocated her but they never did an autopsy since she was expected to die anyway from liver disease. Now I don't know wtf is wrong with my dad...... but he has gotten so bad recently that his parents don't want to even talk to him anymore. my grandmom told me that she is too old to be treated like that. its also affected my mom too...... she was crying last week telling me that she doesn't even know why she is still with him since she doesn't love him anymore. sigh.......

So if you think you're bipolar, go get a medical doctor to give you a prescription, take your lithium and GET OVER IT!

Most evidence points to Manic Depression as being inherited from the father, just FYI. Same as the Alcoholism gene.

And you never answered my question. HAVE YOU GONE TO A PSYCHIATRIST?
Almost anyone can say "yeah, that's me" to a checklist but I don't think you understand the full implications of being bipolar. It's not a good thing. To me, you just sound like an angry little kid. I wouldn't doubt that you MAY have depression but your attitude points to what they call "being a teenager". Go see a doctor. If he is convinced you're depressed, get treatment, whether it's behavioral therapy or meds.

<< also her uncle sexually mollested her when she was a kid >>

That's why she has an eating disorder.

<< Now I don't know wtf is wrong with my dad >>

He's an a-hole, plain and simple. My guess is that he didn't have the most supportive environment while growing up. And he hasn't dealt with his own issues enough to raise a family, so he's doing a good job of ruining one. Spend some more time out of the house; it'll be good for you.

Reminds me of the E.R. episodes with Sally Field who had a bi-polar disorder and needed her lithium to stay sane.

have you seen what lithium can do to you? read here. sorry but I refuse to take drugs. i used to be addicted to morhpine(have had kidney surgery 4 times in a period of less then 2 years so i always had a supply of morphine). It was extremely hard to break the addiction, especially since I am allergic to demerol (sp?) so all I really had available was morphine. I was only about 10-11 years old at the time and they kept giving it to me when I asked for it. how was I to know the side effects? Anyway I hate drugs period. I hate what they can do to you. and well yeah I guess I don't have a right to complain but I don't want to fvck myself up more then I already am.

EDIT: I couldn't take it anyway..... my left kidney is only 46% functional and always causes me pain.

<< Long-Term Effects
Some people on long-term maintenance may experience altered thyroid function or goiter. Patients with kidney problems before starting on lithium often run into further kidney problems after using lithium for some time. (If you have kidney problems, you could either switch to Tegretol or Depakote.)
>>

last thing I need is to cause my kidney to fail on me......

As everyone else has said, if you think you're fvcked up, go to a doctor and get help. Psychiatrist. Something. Don't sit there on your ass and go "poor me, poor me, gather around all and pity me." Get out there, get some help, and continue with life.

I probably will in the end but it's gonna be impossible to convince my dad I need help. He'll just yell at me for a long time and tell me it's all in my head and to snap out of it. Well that didn't work out too well for my mom...... He didn't realize she actually had a problem until she almost killed herself. Also unless insurance covers it I can forget that idea....... my dad won't pay.

There are drugs out there besides lithium that treat bipolar disorder. Depakote is one of many. And if you were truly manic-depressive, and if said manic depression actually had an impact on your life, the side effects would be the least of your concerns. I still think you're full of crap, you whiny b!tch.
