Disable Messenger and download/install MSN Messenger.

Can also right-click my computer, select manage, select services and apps, select services. Then, in the right hand pane, scroll down to Messenger. Stop it and change its startup to disabled or manual.

MSN Messenger and Windows Messenger Service are different things.
