I'd say you went a little too far. Leaving stuff on a doorstep is generally a bad idea.

Fill me in. From what I know, the OP was madly in love with a girl he never talked to, and after watching Napoleon Dynamite, he baked her a cake and left it on her doorstep?

After she first came over once, she came by a time or two and left a note on my car windshield. She's met my family, been to two of my sisters' houses, etc. Obviously, I haven't met hers. There was a time or two when she was going to invite me over or have me pick her up, but it didn't end up happening. Fast forward to Wednesday night, I took her to get a piercing and saw her writing her address on the form. I looked over her shoulder and read it aloud as if I was trying to memorize it. Then yesterday I decided to look her up (using her last name and what I remembered of her address). I said something about not realizing it was such a long drive, and told her how I found her address. She didn't seem to think it was too weird. Then, I was bored last night so I decided to drop something off at her house (a can of creme soda, which she likes, with a couple sticky notes on it -- nothing unusual was written on the sticky notes). I knew she'd be gone so I just left it in front of her door. And when she found out about it, she got freaked out and now she seems to think I'm a weirdo. So, what do you think? Am I?

stalker alert!
