I'm sure we all remember, where & how did you find out about the day's tragic events?

I was sitting in Economics class trying to keep myself entertained when I read it on AvantGo w/ my Handspring Visor. I then told the Professor what had happened & he used the classroom computer to check out MSNBC.com which is when we all realized the scale of what had happened.

Eh, just join in the chat here 😉

I got to class early that day, and was working on my design project. My teacher smokes, so he went outside for a cig. He rushed back down seconds later and told us all that the WTC was on fire. So our whole class runs out to the parking lot (we are right across the Hudson from NYC), just in time to see the second plane hit the towers.

It really was surreal. No one could honestly get their minds around what was happening. I know the most emotional moment of that day for me was not when the towers got hit, or collapsed, or as the wounded came to the PATH station so we could tend to them. It was when we had just seen the first tower collapse, and the second one was still standing. A girl next to me (I don't know who she was, I probably never will) had her father working in the towers. She was desperately trying to call him, and nothing on campus would work. Our cell towers were on the top of the WTC, and our phone lines were jammed. Finally, she does get through, and you could see the hope on her face as it started ringing. Then, she just let out such a wail as she got the message that the cell phone was not in service.

I don't know what happened to her or her father, but that was the worst moment of the whole event.

We were quite busy that day. We ended up converting our field (which was a parking lot at the time) into a helipad, but only one helicopter ever came. I registered as being certified in first aid and a large group of us began turning the school gym into a triage center. However, we never got the wounded. The loss of life was just horrible. We never expected such a small amount of wounded to come out. It truly was a tragedy, that day. I still have a photo taken from my campus as my desktop.

Woke up in my dorm. Put the tv on with my friend sleeping. Went in the shower, and heard my friend going nuts. I dry up quickly rn in my room half naked and its a news story of a airplane accident. Then my roommates come out to see and a bunch of my fraternity brothers come over b/c we walk to class. Then we see the next plane hit the tower in real time. We all looked at each other in shock. Ran to class to get the handout we needed, and ran back to the room. In that amount of time, the first tower collapsed. We watched the second.

We watched Cnn and every NY news station from the time it happened till 7-8pm. Then we all decided to get together with our other friends and watch it at our house. Glad i was around my best friends at the time, and not alone.

I have a FREAKY story about 9/10/01 of what happened to me, but i'll tell it tomorrow night. I got a class at 8am.

Lying in bed. Playing hooky from work.

I heard the morning radio fools talking about how a plane flew in to the WTC. I actually rolled over for a minute, and decided to turn on CNN. Minutes later, the second plane hit. I knew then that it was an attack.

I spent the remainder of the day watching TV and going to class (UH's law school did not cancel classes :|)

I was sleeping and my mom woke me up earlier to say the WTC was hit by an airplane... I told her she's full of sh!t, had a shower, turned on CNN, sure enough, there it was...

I was in my third Period class (English) when someone came in all of the sudden during reading time, turned on the TV and started telling everyone that they bombed the WTC; I thought at first that it was like a fighter plane that crashed by mistake

I was at work finishing up in the lab, and was at my cube beginning to notice that everything was very quiet, even though the day was starting to get going, and I looked around and found everyone in this other engineer's cube where he had a tv..

After that I went home (I work graveyard), and was glued to the tv the rest of the day.

My Post was the Sticky about the pentagon....

I was at home watching CNN as the second plane came in.:Q

Well subway was almost into downtown when first plane struck, was pissed because starting to get late for class.

Watched attractive blonde in high heels run up the street towards me....thought it was gonna be a great day. Saw fire....somewhat puzzled.

Went to class...several minutes late...annouced WTC had hole in side. Teacher says small plane, no big deal. Talks about water pollution for 1 hr 30 min.

Come out of class, WTC gone...play 3 hours of CS to kill terrorists and so forth.
