Lock files on zip drive

I back up all my documents which includes sensitive financial data to my zip drive. I have password protection via the login on XP to protect the files on my hard drive, but want one to "lock" my files on my zip disk. I've located a program, TS Lock, that would do the trick, but am looking for other options, preferably freeware. Any suggestions?[E=Text]steven.gambill@comcast.net

The Iomegaware software has a util built in that lets you password protect the disks.

After installing the software, put the zip disk you want to lock in the drive then, in My Computer, right-click on the Zip drive icon and select "Protect", it'll give you the option to write protect, or Read/Write protect, and set a pass word.
When the disk is Read/Write protected, the drive won't even recognize the disk in the drive until you right-click and "Unprotect" the drive.

Works well.

🙂 Thanks. I have QuickSync installed so it automatically backs up any changes I make to my selected documents. I'm assuming, then, every time I log in, I'll have to unlock the tape in order for my files to be backed up?

Well, yeah, you have to enter the password in order to mount the disk, once you do, it'll work as usual till you eject the disk, after that you would have to enter it again for access. If you want to fully "Unprotect" the disk. after right-clicking and putting in your password, you would enter it once more.

Try it out, it's free, and if you don't like it just uninstall, or just don't use it😉
