Would it be possible to have a brief explanation (1-4 words) as to why a thread is locked?

1.Locking
2. this
3. thread
4. now.

Let's see....

1: It
2: Won't
3: Be
4: Happening

;)

Seriously though, the Forum FAQ gives some relevant info on this topic. Oftentimes locked threads -do- have an explanation. Other times, it's either plain as day (or appears to be) that a comment is merely taking up time that could be better used elsewhere.

I see that you're bitter because the religion thread you were posting in got locked. You'll soon learn that -many- religion threads get locked, simply for the fact that 90%+ of them degenerate into flame wars.

And, word to the wise: Posting what is often perceived as a retalitory "How Dare You Lock blah blah" thread isn't going to further your case.

Fast four = Duplicate thread, offensive thread, simpleton-esque thread, promotes illegal activity thread.

Just speaking from my own observation, not officially endorsed :)

Thank you all for telling me that it won't be happening. What I would appreciated is some explanation as to WHY it won't be happening. The two threads I was in that were locked were done so for no obvious reason.

The only reason I can guess about one is that we were discussing firearms, and some hoplophobe moderator just couldn't stand it.

In the other one we were talking about what is, and is not "logic"; along with various religious topics. The banter was fairly mild, and was very interesting for the four of us till posting. Once again, I suspect the topic was offensive to some moderator on a personal basis, and they decided to "put a stop to that".

There was a third, but it was designed to get locked, but I had hoped it would prompt a response from a moderator.

What about it Mods? You guys moderating content based on purely personal preference? Doesn?t seem right in an off topic forum.

Believe it or not, Johnny, that was not the first religion post on the message board. Precedent was set long ago about those posts. Nothing is ever accomplished, other than a banning or two because someone got out of hand.
