Location of Help & Support in Windows XP

I work in a computer lab and one of the professors asked if we could put the "Help & Support Center" icon in the Start menu like it used to be.

I've looked everywhere and the only place that I can find help from within the start menu is by clicking on "search".

Another way is to press the F1 key from the desktop. However, the professor would like the students to have an easy, clear way to access the "Help & Support Center."

Does anyone know how to set this up?

Thanks.

Right click the Start button and go to Properties.

Under the Start Menu tab, click Customize. Then click the Advanced tab and check the Help and Support option.

The "Help & Support" option is not there. Is it supposed to be?
Yes, in both XP and Vista.

For XP, the Help Center files are located in
c:\windows\PCHealth\HelpCtr\Binaries

"helpctr.exe", in that folder, should start it up.

I found the file, but that doesn't solve the problem. I want the Help & Support to appear on the Start menu just below Run -- I can't figure out how to get it there.

When I go to the Start Properties and Customize, that option is just not there. How can I put it there?

Well, I did that, but it puts it on the second tier of the start menu. The professor wants it on the first tier.

If you go to Start/Properties, you will see a picture of the first tier of the start menu with the Help & Support icon directly above the Search and Run icons.

That's where the Professor wants it because that's where the books he is teaching from have you look for it. It's frustrating for students to be reading one thing and experiencing something completely different. We want to minimize their frustration levels.

I just heard from a colleague that we may be getting a "slip streamed" version -- whatever that means!

All of our software is uploaded to a web site that the technicians have access to, so when they build their models, they get the software from the software web site. Apparently whatever is uploaded to the web site is an "altered" version.

I wonder why he wants it. I've found that I get the same quality of help asking my cats as I do the built in help.
