Locating processor build date

I've been reading in these forums about the Althlon XP2500+ being locked after a certain build date (I believe measured in week numbers). I just received an Althlon XP2500+ from NewEgg.com, and I can't determine where this information is found. The information I wrote down prior to installing it is:
White Sticker with BarCode has a number on it: 5001011xxxxxS, and then there were numbers on the die near the arrow identifying Pin 1.
Where is the manufacturing date/week found on these CPU's? I'm pretty sure that mine has a locked multiplier, simply due to the 2500+ being in production for some time now. But I would appreciate it if you guys could help me out - its always great to learn things!!

Oh, and about applying thermal compound.....it says to put just a thin layer on, and I did (Artic Silver 5). But in the process, some got on the die. I wiped it up, but this makes me wonder if there's spillage/overflow that is overlooked or not cleaned up, does that creat "hot spots" on the CPU?

On the black label there's a bunch of letters and numbers that someone will know how to decipher if you post them. If you don't want to rip the heatsink off of it then just try changing the multiplier in the BIOS and see what happens. If it doesn't boot or the speed doesn't change then it's locked. There's almost a 100% probability that it's locked if you just got it from Newegg though.

EDIT: As for question #2, all of the heat transfers through the CPU die to the heatsink, so as long as you cleaned up the 'spilled' AS you should be fine.
 
I had hoped that was the case for the spillage....although it seems like it could be a problem if someone were to leave it on the die or too much was applied on that plate and oozed out. The biggest concern relative to this were the little chip looking things on the surface of the die (I think there were six on my Athlon XP2500+)....do you know what those are and if they are susceptible to "shorting out" or some other grand damage that could be caused by thermal paste getting on them?

Naturally, the info on the Black Label was the only info I didn't write down!! It looked to complicated and the barcode seemed the more logical choice. So much for my logic!
 
The die is the rectangular thing in the middle of the CPU, those other things are probably resistors. Here's the instructions for applying AS5.
