Just get a DTR Mobile Athlon 64. They're all CG.

but not all DTR mobiles work in all boards...

i.e. the mobile won't work in the epox boards...

but good news!

i ordered a retail 3000+ after they removed their AXBOX from their webpage and still got a CG 3000+ newcastle

so maybe newegg is starting to ship these out!!! :)

I was waiting on the AX version of the 3000+ at newegg but I finally gave up and I looked into the 3200+, its only $260. Only 40 bux more then the $3000.

Um, wrong. I agree that you should just go ahead and grab the Newcastle core 3000+, but the Clawhammer has 1MB of L2 cache, not the 512k you suggested. The Newcastle was lowered to 512k.

Ummm...actually you are mistaken. The A64 3000+ Clawhammer has 512kb L2 cache...unlike the 3200/3400 with 1mb like you said. That is why I suggested just getting a Newcastle instead.

On another note...I just got an A64 3200 from Monarch right after they dropped their prices. From the model number (and the product description showing 512kb L2 cache)...I was expecting a Newcastle, BUT I ended up with an 'AR' Clawhammer. I'm assuming this is a CG stepping.

My question is should I go ahead and keep it? Kind of pisses me off that I didn't get what I really ordered, but if it overclocks decently I'll just be happy with the extra L2 cache. :) What do you guys think?

If anyone cares (which I doubt in a thread this old), I inadvertantly ordered a CO-stepped 3000+ from NE last week, but they shipped a CG-stepped one instead. God bless 'em for saving me from myself!

I had no clue, I just ordered my 3000+ and thankfully got a CG stepping. 2.2GHz on default voltage :).
