Ok I was all set to buy my new system off newegg, I had priced everyting a dozen times and when I went to purchase my chip the ADA3000AXBOX chip I foudn that it had disappeared off newegg. Zipzoomfly does not have it either. They both have what I believe are the no CG revisioned chips. Can anyone help me find one with the CG revision or can you tell me if newegg will restock them?

Thanks for the help

If you're getting the A64 3000...just grab the Newcastle core as the Clawhammer only has 512kb L2 cache anyways. The Newcastles are CG revisions.

Actually, not all newcastles are CG cores... Infact most of the ones for sale aren't. I'm looking for one too, they had it on page 3 or something after searching AMD 3000+, trying to hide it i guess, it said ETA 7/21/04 but then they took it off today so who knows.

newegg tells you what version they sell

edit: on every processor it has a model number - as said above you will be able to tell if its a cg version by the last two characters in the model number

but not for the retail one....

they used to sell AXBOX but they no longer show those anymore...

and they also had OEM AX's for the 3000+ but no longer on the site as well...

Mine is a 2800+. I managed to push it to 2.3 GHz (256FSB/768HTT) on a K8V SE Deluxe. CPU voltage is 1.6 V with stock cooling. I got it from Newegg together with the Chaintech SK8T800. I called Newegg to take off Farcry and have just sold the Chaintech on fleabay.

PC boots fine into Windows at 2.4 GHz (267FSB/800HTT) but cannot pass prime95 even at 1.75 V. Same happens on a K8NNXP, so I figured it wasn't the high fsb of the K8V.

Don't put too much faith in the model number listed on Newegg or any other store unless it specifically guarantees the specific revision. Even if Newegg has something listed as AP/AR/AX it doesn't mean that it's really what you're going to get. They go through stocks of stuff, some are CGs are some are not, they don't differentiate between them. I really do wish they'd make a note of that on the product listing.

It usually works out ok though. Almost all of the listings are for APs, but I'd say the majority of them are probably CG revisions anyway. I got an OEM 3200+ Clawhammer that was an AR even though it was listed as an AP.

Um, wrong. I agree that you should just go ahead and grab the Newcastle core 3000+, but the Clawhammer has 1MB of L2 cache, not the 512k you suggested. The Newcastle was lowered to 512k.

I just checked, and you guys are right about them taking off the CG revision of the 3000+, as it will be designated by the AX in the model number. Not sure where it would've went to, as it's the newer stepping AFAIK.

CG allows for you to use command clock of 2T which helps you run a gig of memory at high speeds...

CG has better memory controller than C0 and is more compatible with more ram...

especially double sided memory...

CG's in general do overclock a little better but the C0's overclock just as well in a lot of cases...

I'm running my 3200+ CG A64 at 2.47GHz stable right now on air cooling. So overclocking is pretty good IMO.
