Local Pc store sales keep recommending Zalman

I had a 9500 a few years ago, it worked OK and had a ball bearing fan, thought that was good and all. Must use the crappiest ball bearing fan available, 1 year later the bearing was making all sorts of noise.

I still have it lying around, probably will reuse it sometime when I get around to rigging a different fan to it.

I wouldn't recommend Zalman for silence. Ever. Not even for quiet computing.

We had one at work that ended up the same way, with a noisy grinding fan.

Well, BITD they were a great choice for quiet computing before the advent of all the more "modern" heatpipe coolers. Too bad they haven't innovated for around a half decade.
