14 days doesn't see that long of a time at all but I don't read book much so people who are hardcore readers would read in that amount of time but casual readers might not be able to. Also, it's up to the publisher to say if a book can be loaned or not and we know that means hardly any will have that option.

Still though, it's a good start.

Went through a lot of the books that my GF and I have they are mostly available to loan. I guess if you don't finish in the 14 days, you can always ask to borrow it a second time.

Apparently books can only be loaned once, which makes no sense to me.

Yup, sounds like you can only loan once. And that's not just once per person, but once for any book that you purchase.

Extremely restrictive, but oh well, better than nothing I suppose. Honestly am surprised that publishers allowed any loaning at all. Loaning, like first-sale doctrine, is something that I've just accepted as being dead in this age of digital distribution and rights management.

I presume the idea to only allow it loaned once, and then only for 14 days is to try to get the person who borrows it to purchase the book. If they let out unlimited loans per book, I could see people starting a business loaning out kindle books like a library...
