You just learned a $75 life lesson.
That's how I'm trying to look at it.
Serves me right for lending it to a guy with kids under 10 years old. Great family but I guess I should have expected it.

So I emailed him asking if they noticed anything wrong with it, and apparently the load times for some games were incredibly long (beginning of the drive dying I think). He feels awful and is insisting on me getting it repaired covered by him. Nice guy!! I guess that reminds me why I loaned it to him in the first place.

So you are saying you knew it was going to die and hoped to stick him with the repair?
WTF!?

Maybe he didn't realize it was broken when he returned it?

The OP might not have known it was going to die when he loaned it out, but if he believes the guys description, it sounds like the failure was not due to abuse. I would refuse payment from him in that case.

It's a tough call, I'm betting that one of the kids knocked it around, but who knows. Because of that, I don't think I will actually accept payment, but it's nice to know he's willing to pay for it.

Do you actually know his kids or have any reason to suspect that?

How do you even begin to come to a conclusion like that?

1. you dont have proof that it was any fault of the family you lent it to.
2. it could have just been its time to F up
3. you pay for it and not accept his money
4. dont let this in anyway ruin your / girl friend relationship with said person/family
5. do let them borrow it again if asked although you prolly wont be asked again
6. even go as far as asking them if they wanted to borrow again as you believe the wii to have been faulty
7. if it breaks again then you know for sure its them and not the wii
8. ask for payment and know that they are not trust worthy to accept lent items
thats how i would proceed anyway. it could be a nice friendship/workship if thats even a word, ruined by boss taken shit out on your gf and telling everybody dont borrow ship from her cause she will blame shit on you.
