Loading new OS

I am in the process of building a new computer. The motherdoard is going to be a Dragon Plus with a XP1800+ CPU. I plan on loading Win2K Pro as my OS. Of course it is on CD so the question is how do I load it? By that I mean that I do not have any software that I can install that lets it check the CD-ROM. Can the BIOS be setup to recognize the CD-ROM? What is the process I need to go thru to allow the CD-ROM to be recognized?

yeah, just go in bios and change the boot order to boot cd-rom first, restart computer with 2K cd in and enter setup.

I had the same problem of booting the Windows 2000 Pro cd, but it didn't work as it was only an upgrade. As far as I know, there are to options:

1. Create a boot disk (or download one) from the cd on another computer and use when you boot up you're computer.

2. Install Windows 98(se) and then upgrade using the Windows 2000 cd.

It is possible to create a boot disk from the Windows 2000 cd, but I can't remember how. Sorry.

Whoops, wasn't reading properly. Go to Bios (hit del on start up, or when prompted) and it's the second option on the left. Then look for a line reading 'boot sequence' or 'boot from' and it normally says 'A,C,Scsi' or something. Hit Page up until it says 'CDROM,C,A'. This will boot from the CDROM drive before any other devices, allowing you to boot from the Windows 2000 cd
