Load/Stress testing software for buying a used computer

I'm looking at buying a used computer for quite a good deal. It is an AMD Phenom x4 9850 2.5 ghz.

I read that the Phenom when first released had stability issues but have since been fixed.

The deal seems possibly too good to be true, so I want to bring with me a load testing software to see how the computer holds up.

Can anyone suggest anything?

Also, did the Phenom 9850 2.5ghz ever have this TLB or whatever stability problem I've read about? Should I be looking for a revision # on the CPU when I go to look at it?

Thanks!

The comp is:

AMD Phenom x4 9850
2gig Patriot Extreme ram
Asus M3A78-EM mobo
Seagate 7200.11 500gb hd
Radeon Diamond 2600xt
Antec Sonata Designer case w/ 500w PS

"<a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.techwarelabs.com/reviews/processors/amd_phenom_9850/">AMD's intial Phenom release back in November of 2007 with the 9x00 series (9600/9700/9800/9900) B2 stepping processors was met with issues when TLB erratum problems surfaced and were plagued by benchmarks during testing and reviewing.

While the TLB issue may have been a show stopper for enterprise/business customers if it were to spring up, it was more likely a non-issue for computer gamers and general home users.
But AMD's latest processor 9x50 series prove to be just what the doctor ordered, with the new B3 stepping processors that are fixed at the silicon level and no longer have the TLB issue.</a>"

Thanks, I'll look for the B3.

I know that this CPU problem may not affect me, but I'd still like to see this computer operate under load since it is such a good price.

Anyone have any suggestions? Maybe just get a game running on it?

Read the article.
If you're buying a 9850 (as you posted), you will be getting the B3 stepping.

Techware Labs: AMD Phenom 9850 X4 Quad Core Processor with B3 Stepping
"AMD has named the new series with what they are calling their '9x50 series' of processors.

This makes things very easy for the consumer to identify the new cpu's when purchasing, and identifying the new B3 stepping processors from the initial 9x00 series.

The four new AMD Phenom X4 processors that AMD is delivering are the 9550 (2.2GHz), 9650 (2.3GHz), 9750 (2.4GHz) and 9850 (2.5GHz)."

Hi Blain,

Thanks for the link, I did read the article but you never know if the guy is saying it's a 9850 when it really is a 9800. That's why I said I'll look for the stamp.

HeavyLoad looks like it'll do the trick too, thanks!

You seem like you're probably pretty knowledgeable on this stuff; am I correct in the understanding that the onboard graphics will work in conjunction with the Radeon 2600xt to boost gaming performance? The motherboard has the Hybrid CrossFireX Support.

Thanks for your help.

Dave
