it looks like a couple of the guys were trying to stop the guy from stealing the bike and decided to back off because he had an axe.

i think the guy left the bike because he realized there was a camera. he rode in the direction of the camera and turned around and left it there and walked away. i'm thinking he spotted the camera as he was riding.
