Firstly: fuck all the dollar stores. They prey on poor folks.
This is confusing, I've been told many many times that while there are outliers, all in all consumers are doing great. I can't imagine a few weeks of expensive eggs has done this, so how did we go from a roaring economy to consumers can't handle dollar general anymore?

Expensive eggs were the first step, now I am seeing that most of the basic products are getting more expensive... heck, Trump is expert in ruining things... and even didn't use Russia as backup properly

They switch narratives fast. I read one of the worst of the worst congress critters was saying all of this was like football practice - No pain No gain. The gaslighting is that all of this suffering will be temporary and 'Murica will come roaring back because of all of the manufacturing returning here. They already told their cult members to shut up about egg prices. That's getting fixed by hatching new chickens, just give it time. Which is the narrative for everything they do; give it time. Easy for those with wealth. Financially speaking, something like 60% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck. Stupid high numbers have little or no money saved. Either for emergencies or retirement. How much time do they think these people have? Many are already living on borrowed time/money.

As we watch manufacturing automate more and more, how many long term jobs would there even be? Amazon already has bots pulling orders along side the humans, and the estimate is they will cost $4.50 an hour to operate in a few years. So even those low end warehouse jobs are going away. Bot sourcing is the most expensive it will ever be, it will only get cheaper. They will also improve at every task humans do. It will be the end of the buggy whip maker dynamic where new jobs spring up to replace the old ones. Bot sourcing will be getting much more of the work.

Oh, I think they're all going to get cut. DoD contracts are already being terminated.

Head Gasket on this 10 yr 135K turd of a Subaru Forester is cracked/leaking. Oil in the coolant, but not in the oil reservoir.

Shops, even specialized Subaru ones, are asking $7500+ for a repair which is absolutely insane. I'd be better off doing ye olde insurance fraud and just leaving it in the Tenderloin for an evening.

Time to pour a shitload of anti-leak into the oil and coolant reservoirs and cross my fingers that it plugs whatever ails it.

10 years and 135k miles? What a joke, you don't get to rest until 20 years and 250k miles you cheaply built over priced piece of shit.

Remember making people wear a cloth filter over their mouth and face during a pandemic virtually drove them insane, so nothing surprises me anymore.

As a Subaru owner thou shall not say one bad word about them. I used to call them the earth shoes of cars.

Head gaskets are the weak point of most of Subarus engines.

-Leak doesn't look too bad at the moment. Poured a bunch of $6 Stop Leak into the oil reservoir with more to pour a few days from now
Hopefully it gets in there and plugs whatever ails it.

I knew car repairs had gotten pricy but this is in WTF GTFO territory.

At least for you it is - I'm not paying that. And not - I can't pay that. Which is what the majority of Americans face. After they have ruined their credit they are doubly fucked.

Never mind the sin tax items. Shrinkflation is complete bullshit.

I thought I'd heard they had taken care of it by 2015.
Had head gasket issues in my 2006, but I have my suspicions that it's related to the shop that replaced the radiator using plain old green coolant instead of the blue stuff.
