fvck those people. If I couldn't even have my own friends over to celebrate, you better believe i'm going to file some complaints on your ass.

Fvck that. That's even more reason to go over to your friend's house for the party😛 Less work/cleanup I have to do 😀
hmmm... good point. But image this... you could probably get a bunch of hot girls to come to your house and watch the display. But what if they have nowhere to park :Q

I can't believe that, that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard, period. It's Christmas, and if anything, I'd be happy for Christmas spirit to last 45 days long. Besides, they live across the street, the people viewing it would only be on the opposite side, so their friends could still park on the same side the of the street. This sh1t just gets to me because the people that I live by (on both sides) are fvcking sound nazis, and if I play my bass past 9 they bitch. I make sure that from 9-10, if I'm playing, I turn it up, just because they're such bastards.

Are you fvcken serious? 1,500 cars. That aint 1 person a car. Spread out from say 6pm to 12pm, that is 250 cars an hour, 6 fvcken cars a minute. That means every 10 seconds, yo ucan look out your window and another car will show up. You don't think people will park on the other side of the street?

They may, but the main flow of traffic would only be on one side of the street. If the people really wanted to stop them they could put up fake signs or barricade spots somehow. I just can't see their "lower-key" get-togethers as a good reason to stop the fun for thousands of other people.

The traffic will be both sides because they are on a cul-de-sac. That's a dead end road, so in on one side of the street, out the other.

Now that's balls. I still couldn't justify ending it completely, just because that's sooo many people. Maybe they could charge money for it, or get a permit and charge money for it, and give the neighbors some of it? I mean if these people spent over 150k on all this stuff, they can't really need it.

The mayor wants to keep the display going, I say they should put it in front of the mayor's house.

Or maybe in front of the town/city hall? I dunno though, that'd be an awful lot of work that the couple would have to do for free, and it wouldn't even be in the comfort of their own home.

I must say, I had images of National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation in my head when I saw this on The Today Show this morning😉

I could see where it would be an annoyance to people, but I do all of my running around in the day time or in the early morning and rarely go out at night, so I doubt that traffic would really bother me.

Also, 90 signatures. Probably 45 married couples😉 90 people pissed vs 675,000 who came to see it that year. I guess I could suck it up for the Christmas season if it was bringing a smile to over a half a million people.

Wouldn't that be like those stories where if you could kill 1 person to save the lives of millions? I mean yea, its for the greater good, but wtf did that guy do to deserve it?

You do your sh1t during the day, but that doesn't mean other people don't do their stuff at night. In So Cal, theres this neighborhood where every single house in the block decorated. It draws tons of cars too, but then it'd be spread out. Here, those 1500 cars would be concentrated in that very street and all the streets that you need to go through to get to it.

WTF does killing someone have to do with this? Your comparing 90 people pissed to 675,000 people happy to killing one person to save the life of millions? Not even comparable.

I don't think that anyone was harmed or killed over this thing. Annoyed, yes. But physical harm/death? Not even close to being a fair comparison

What are you so angry about. I'm saying its the same situation, but at a different level. When would you draw the line? Eventually, it would just be mob rule. Sadly to say, that how the world seems to work a lot of the time.

I'm not angry😀

I'd draw the line if people were out camping in my yard with lawn chairs and running up on my grass with their Chevy Suburbans...but as long as the traffic is moving I don't think I'd be too upset.

Hell, **if** I needed to get out to go somewhere, I'm sure that if someone saw me backing out of my driveway, they'd let me break in line 😛

Bleh. We're not given enough information adn I just didn't want everyone jumping on the neighbors because I saw they had a point.

I agree with the neighbors complaining... if it were for 2 weeks.... maybe I'd tolerate that.. but 45 days of that?!

I would side with the complaining neighbor...

Christmas or not 45 days of people coming by to visit and possibly an insane amount of traffic is crazy.

Lets hope their street is a short one with a cul-de-sac at the end of it.

Can you imagine coming home from work every weekday for like two months and it would take x amount of time to reach your house at the end of the street?

There are so many ways they could have resolved it that it's bullsh1t for them to just cancel it like that. I hope even more people come to see just the Grinch this year to spite them.

so in other words, you're an inconsiderate little b1tch. believe it or not, some people actually sleep around 9-10 since they have jobs / school / or are just tired from the day. i guess common sense / courtesy doesn't register in your head.

I've driven through neighborhoods that have 'moderately popular' xmas displays, and let me tell you, it can be absurd.

Something like what the article describes really IS a nuisance - 5 days, a week, maybe 10 days... that's reasonable.. but if they set it up a month in advance? Insane.

You obviously have no concept of how these things are put together. It takes 1 or 2 people at least a month to put a display like that together. The display people are seeing might not be the entire display. Say it takes a couple weeks to get 1/2 of the lights up. By that time, cars are already comming to see it. That 45 days time frame might be the ENTIRE setup time included.

One of them is an old lady, and she rarely complains if ever anymore. The guy next door is in his 30s/40s and he leaves for work after I leave for school, and his wife doesn't work. If legally I don't have to be quiet til 10PM, then I'm not gonna be. This guy has complained over such petty things that this just furthers why he deserves it. Don't be a fvcking jackass if you don't know details. I wouldn't be inconsiderate if he worked for the USPS, like our previous neighbor who lived there did. Keep on coming in with the personal insults, your e-penis keeps growing larger and larger. I bet you feel reeeally good about yourself now asshat.

so you continued to intentionally play your music even though an old lady asked you to stop before? like i said, you're an inconsiderate little b1tch. the guy next door works / asked you to be quiet for various reasons and you continue being a little b1tch about it? just because the law allows you to be an a$$hole until 10, doesn't mean you should 🙂 like i said, you're an inconsiderate little b1tch.

"I wouldn't be inconsiderate if he worked for the USPS"

why would his job title matter? he works.

"Keep on coming in with the personal insults, your e-penis keeps growing larger and larger. I bet you feel reeeally good about yourself now asshat. "

feel good about myself? hardly... just pointing how it's your own damn fault your neighbors don't like you =\ truth hurts.

"Besides, they live across the street, the people viewing it would only be on the opposite side, so their friends could still park on the same side the of the street."

you obviously haven't considered the absurd parking conditions those neighbors have to endure for 45 days.

I can understand why the people complained; however decorating is a part of Christmas.

There were a 3 blocks cul-de-sac here name Tatersail that everyone decorate for Christmas and they even got city to change the street name to Christmas street. The average home owner electricity bill on Christmas street was about $2000.00 CAD for the month of December that they don?t mind shelling out ++ tens of thousand of dollars per year for decoration (one year they even had fake snow for the entire street), but it was eventually shut down & the name change back to Tatersail after 20 years of being Christmass street. The theft, destruction of property, decoration, and noise were the reason that the tradition was stop. And, ambulance couldn?t get through the throng of people and cars.

It is not the fault of the people that live on that street nor the person that decorates, but guess it that the disrespect of the viewers that is the problem. (Mostly teenager)
