not me

some of my friends do, some have a house, kids, couple of beamers, some just drink their paychecks away every night

Yes.

I was laidoff in June 2003...work in the IT. Took me a while to find a job that paid anywhere near what I made...to this day I am still trying to catch up. My job sucks..doesn't pay as much as my job...benefits suck. Every month some expense comes out of nowhere...always some emergency.

So yes I am living paycheck to paycheck, but slowly getting my life back together...putting a little bit into savings...investing in a mutual fund. Soon I will be alright.

no, but I know plenty of people who do.

beyond rent + utilities + food, I don't have too many expenses. no debt on my credit card, no student loan, and no car payments. I manage to save a couple hundred every month, which gets dumped into my "rainy day" savings account.

right now no, but I'm in the process of buying a house, and once I put all that cash up as a down payment I will be. It's going to take a little while to build up some savings again as a safety net.

Him: "most people live paycheck to paycheck."

Honestly, he said it just like that. I was like, uh, are you sure?

He could be right, as the 35 or so people that has responded to this poll, most likely, are not a good representation of the country as a whole.

Yes. Doubt we'll be out of it any time soon. Getting laid off not that far out of college with very little savings did me in. Now the ridiculous cost of living in this area takes its toll. Now my wife wants to buy a house, which is a pipe dream unless we suddenly win the lottery, and have kids. Ugh.

not really, but kinda.

I only started working FT 2 weeks ago, so I haven't really had time to build up anything. But apart from student loans, 1 week of work is enough to cover my expenses, os that shouldn't be hard to do.

Not really, but we're trying to put as much cash as possible into paying off college debts, so sometimes money can get a little tight.

Paycheck to Paycheck? (Total Votes: 107)

It's still no reason not to have a poll... 🙁

I can't wait for the day that I'm able to save money rather than spending it all on living expenses and paying loans back....grrrr.

I have a feeling that is how life in my 20's will end up being. 🙁

that's just part of growing up. Welcome.

Back when I was making 300 every two weeks, hell yes.

LITTLE TIP: Put away a hundred or so every month.
Hide it somewhere. A savings account you never use.
EVENTUALLY you will get used to not having it and your lifestyle will change accordingly. You wont miss it. But when you get to be 60 or 65, youll have this hidden stash to dip into.

(Note: it can be anything. Not just a savings account. Just make sure it is low-risk.)

And DONT TOUCH IT. If you ever read "Rich dad, Poor dad" the author says "lower and middle class call it 'dipping into my savings'. Upper class call it 'being stupid'."

If you dip into it every time you need some cash, you wont have much when you retire.
