Let's just say my search for a new IT job ain't going so hot. I'd like to start applying for jobs in the US as well as here in Canada but first would like to know what I'd need to be able to legally work in the US. I know there is some kind of work status that lasts a year and needs to be renewed at the border yearly, but don't know what it is called or what the stipulations are. Anyone got a link that will help me out...?

here's the deal, if you have 2 years experience in your field you can likely get a NAFTA work permit.
they last 1 year, are renewable, and you apply right at the border as you cross...
look it up on customs website. onyl valid for certain professions, dont know if IT is one of them, but
start with that

The U.S. doesn't want you coming down here to work. We have enough unemployed technology workers as it is.
