I'm confused by this video. Is this a real video, or is it a rendering?

It's video sped up 10x. It looks like it was a video camera attached to the belly of a helicopter (you can see the landing struts later in the vid). I wonder if it was an unmanned copter...

I'm accustomed to time lapse referring to still photos mashed together over a long period of time though, so this confused me.

Lovely, CNN just interviewed a guy wearing a t-shirt that says "She Wants the D". My kids asked what that meant....

Yesterday's storm just missed my in-laws. This one looks like it got the same area that was trashed in May of 99.

You could easily see that shirt walking down the street, in Walmart, in Target, in the grocery store with your kids. Can't really blame CNN for that one...

Reports are all over the place again.

Now the reports are that (thankfully) only 7 students were killed at the school, not 24 like initial reports.

Media hysteria strikes again.

I didn't mean it like that. Obviously any deaths are tragic, but it's not as high as reported before. I'm surprised I have to clarify that.

tbh, I'm surprised/sad there are even that many... you'd figure they would have tornado shelters in schools, for area's that are highly susceptible to tornado's

hopefully something can be learned from this tragedy

You'd think they would've after the first time. (05/03/1999)

You'd need dynamite to build them there because the bedrock is almost at the surface. Few people there even have basements due to that.

I've grown up here, and it's just a fact of life we deal with. Sadly, most Oklahomans get whipped up in a tornado frenzy but very few (myself included), actually get a storm shelter installed.

True enough.

I can't believe the devastation at the school. That's actually the harder thing to try to explain to the kids.

and my friends family wonder why i get paranoid in storms. while the odds are low its not impossible.

the school is very sad. you send them to school expecting them to be safe in every event. to know the school didn't have a safe area (yes you can build them to witstand even a F5) is just sad.

I was living in OKC (was stationed at Tinker AFB) when the May 3, 1999 tornadoes hit. Just unthinkable devastation, and unfortunately this seems even worse. Prayers and best wishes to my friends in OKC.

I know a few storm chasers who are down there right now. They're in Oaklahoma but thankfully weren't anywhere near Moore.

When I hear stories like these, I'm always reminded of that bible verse, Matthew 7:26. A foolish man who built his house on sand. I have no idea why anybody would want to live there. Though I guess that's easy for me to say coming from a place that doesn't get destructive weather.
