If you live near attica indiana and have a 4wd vehicle, let me know. I'm making the 4 hour trek this weekend to the badlands OHV park for some jeeping and a couple extra people never have hurt :)

HERE is a basic map. Its an awesome park, we're going on a jeep trip on the trails, but they also have lots of ATV/dirtbike riders there. If you need any more info let me know :)

edit THIS is their official site btw :)

Ah, I misread, I thought you were saying you lived in Attica and were making a 4 hour trek to Badlands. Thought that may be somewhere near me here in St Louis. I have been looking for places to go in this area....

Actually alot of people from stlouis go to the badlands.... Its a 4 hour drive or so, but its really really worth it :) The only place that would closer to you that I can think of is turkey bay in missouri, but it'd still be I think 3 hours although I've never been there. There are many good jeeping places in this area :( Are you wanting jeeping or are you an atv'er?

Soybomb, can't make it down there this weekend, but I'd like to hook up with you down there one day this year.....I only live about 90 minutes north of there near Gary, Indiana. We all ride ATV's (Don't ask me why a 40 year old man still rides dirt bikes!) down there and have a ball. I probably go there 10-12 times each spring and summer. I have a motorhome we go in and it's nice to get out of the weather if it's too hot or too cold.....

Where do you live? There is another place to go called Haspin Acres, which even has a campground on site. It's east of Indy near the Ohio border.

Have fun and make sure to go down and play in the creek bed. It should be good and muddy this time of year!

Cool I'll have to try to meet up with you sometimet here and say hi :) Its a blast everytime I there......I'm still tempted to ride the dog that always at the office btw ;)

If anyone is interested in joining the southern illinois jeepers mailing list let me know, its a super low volume list with I'd guess 15-20 people on it and they make trips to attica in indiana and less frequently to land between the lakes in missouri. The pictures from the last trip they took to LBL are HERE if anyone wants to take a look. This weekend is a trip with alot of newbies and some unmodified jeeps so even those stock have a chance for fun runs :)

Actually ratkill I'd encourage you to ride along for a run or two, everyone in that group I think uses their jeeps for a daily driver. There are bypasses around the obstilces so if you feel its too much for you to hjandle you can drive around. If you can't stand some scratches from the trees on the side of the trail then its not for you, and eventually you might even get a dent if you get too daring, but if you can keep yourself in check you can escape with just a few light scratches on teh sides that a good waxing usually takes care of :)

why the 120 inch or less rule? Doesnt that rule out most SUV's?
No land Rovers or Hummers allowed huh?

I dont know what the wheelbase is on most rovers, but the hummer, hell yeah it isnt allowed. The hummer sucks offroad! :) Sure its wide and maybe be able to go over wide ditches or something but most trails are in wooded areas and its pretty hard to find any big enough for a hummer, its long enough that you'd have a hard time getting around many corners as well as difficulty with high centering, but you'd also have to cut down all the trees to get through :) Most real offroaders wouldnt want a hummer ;) :D The hummer might be better suited for more open terrain than what we have int he midwest.

I'd like to see a few long-wheelbase 4x4's try and negotiate the Badlands! They'd be wedged in between the trees or high-centered on one of those awesome hills.......Biggest thing I've seen down there are K-5 Blazers and full-sized Broncos, and they play hell chasing us on the quads....

Looks like a blast. I moved to St Louis from Northern Michigan, so as you can imagine, the lack of abundant places to offroad just minutes away is really, really annoying. :( I can't make it this weekend, but would sure like to try sometime this summer

ravahbOi, How ya doin' neighbor? Lived in Hobart for 30+ years and just recently bought me a couple of acres and a 100 year old farmhouse south of Valparaiso......
Do you ride quads or are you a 4x4 truck guy?

ratkil, a group of us make a trip every October up near Baldwin and ride for 3-4 days in the Manistee National forest
and then take a side trip over to play on the dunes at Silver Lake. What a blast!

Had to go out to the barn last night and fire up the quad and take her for a spin. You guys are giving me spring fever!

Cardiac, if you ever get a chance you may want to check an area called Drummond Island, it's up off the east end of the upper pennisula of Michigan. I have never been there, but have heard great things about it.
