Live Nation concert prices now (and rappers in general)

SP33Demon

Lifer
Type2 ADULT Ticket PriceUS $87.50 x 2
Convenience ChargeUS $15.40 x 2
Building Facility ChargeUS $2.00 x 2

For 2 tickets = $209.80 for Baltimore 1st Mariner Arena.

Last year tickets were going for $150-200 after they sold out.

Another example was the Roots charging over $100/ticket last year in DC.

Who are the morons paying this much to see a rapper(s)? The only band remotely close to charging this much was Metallica. Talk about milking your fans... would anyone here pay that much to see a rapper? Rap shows usually suck live as well and I've seen everyone from WuTang to KRS-One to the Notorious BIG live.

Hey, it's a free market, if there are idiots out there willing to put up good money to see idiot rappers or any other kind of garbage, more power to them.

ticket prices are absurd for mostly any group. only acts that justify $100 have to be unanimously huge and respected, like springsteen, billy joel, michael jackson, u2, etc.

i was checking ticket prices for brand new, $45? f that

Depends on the rappers, the best concerts I've ever seen were Big Daddy Kane, The Roots, Jurassic 5 & Prince. Roots has an entire band, but they KILLED IT. Prince isn't a rapper, but as far as rappers go a good one can put on a crazy good show. Kane was outstanding, maybe the best concert I've ever been to. If he came back to LA and the show was as good, I'd have no problem dropping $100 to see him. I wouldn't pay $100 to see Jay Z, but there are a few rappers I'd spend even more than that to see.

The Metallica tickets at the concert I went to last year were $40. It's really sad to see no talent rappers charge this much, and then have people actually pay it.

These rap shows you speak of, did you expect a white cloth table and a cup of wine?

For $100 a pop, yes. I wouldn't pay more than $40 a ticket to see a rapper but then again I'm not a rich young e-thug who has rims and a spoiler on a Honda Civic.

I was looking at the best avail for that show which was $75. With Live Nation's absurd fees it was over 100 like Jay-Z.

the cheapest AIC ticket i could find was $75 US.

for a band that is just starting to tour again, i thought that was steep. and i love AIC.

and they're a rap group, so this is on-topic.

Typical AT response to rap. Jay-Z has more talent than any of you could ever have. I would never go see him but he's EXTREMELY talented and gets paid to make music. Neither of you could ever accomplish close to what he has. Just because you don't like the music doesn't mean they are any less talented.

It's a victimless crime. No talent musicians, agents and, producers make a living and idiot fans get relieved of excess cash they don't know what to do with anyways.

it's not the band, it's the fact there are only 2 ticket sellers. about the same price when i looked at getting a pair of tickets for no doubt.

Yea, he's an amazing talent. I'd like to see his complex music scores, though I'm sure I'm too stupid to understand them :^D

50 years later and people are still talking about Coltrane likes he's a god. 50 years from now nobody's gonna know what the hell a Jay-Z is ;^)

Guy at work said he tried to get ACDC tickets and they were well over $125. Think this was for the Verizon center in DC.
