my asus update tool says unable to retrieve bios info and my start up is slow and in bios it shows that no ata drives are attached to the mobo... Thanks a lot Fing Linux+

What do I do?

OK, #1, calm down. #2, start making sense---there have been hundreds of thousands of instances of successful live CD distro boots without the problems described by you. No live CD writes to the BIOS space. Have you considered hardware failure or manual changes you made without remembering?

ok, a live cd shoudnt do THAT much damage....what else have you done lately besides use the live cd? install something, change something, mess with ANYTHING inside the case? oc?

I Have done nothing! - I don't think it is a harware issue, my bios shows no cd-rom attached and there are two... I have used various live CDs/DVDs with no problems- But this is frusterating - I can't find a place to get afudos.exe Bios update tool for my Mobo and I can't get it off of my cd that came with the MB because the the cd-roms don't work- What now?

well I should have said it does boot up and I am working on it right now ( writing this on it) and I get the blue screen of death often but I still can't get the afudos.exe to work.

MODERATORS CAN YOU MOVE THIS TO THE MOBO PAGE? Or can I have permission to re-post in that page? - I know you don't like double posting

I can't beleive a LIVE Cd Did that.

Anyways...seems like something else caused it.

Try to flash OUTSIDE of windows....I would hesitate to flash in Windows anyways

Yep - I fixed it on my own when I got off of work today. YES! I finally found the newest version of afudos.exe, which I was able to use successfully with the newest Bios. It didn't work last night because (most likely)it was an older version of afudos.exe. Because I couldn?t find it on ASUS's site I had to get it somewhere other than. I had a hell of a time with ASUS's download site, as it took me a long time to find the newest versions of afudos.exe and the asus update utility. You can't find them with a search and they are not on the A8V-Deluxe's download page which they should be. They should be there because the software comes with the mobo and is for use with it. Is it just me, or am I the only one who hates their download site?

try clearing the CMOS, it'll fix it

Didn't have to - turned on my rig to see where the jumper was (using the manual .pdf) and noticed that the cd-roms were working, so I figured something had changed. I got onto ASUS's site and was able to find the newest afudos.exe after a while, - TOO LONG, IMO - and was able to make the floppy before the blue screen of death. - which happened about 30seconds after I got done making the floppy🙂 Booted off of the floppy and ran afudos.exe with the new Bios and Wa-La good as new on the re-boot!

By the way what is the correct spelling of Wa-La - if there is one -

Stolen From Dictionary.com:
voi·là ( P ) Pronunciation Key (vwä-lä)
interj.
Used to call attention to or express satisfaction with a thing shown or accomplished: Mix the ingredients, chill, andvoilà!a light, tasty dessert.

Often confused with,

vi·o·la1 ( P ) Pronunciation Key (v-l)
n.
A stringed instrument of the violin family, slightly larger than a violin, tuned a fifth lower, and having a deeper, more sonorous tone.

DAMN! What was I thinking Wa-La for? After seeing your post I kicked my self a couple of times, because I know this - (why was I thinking Wa-La?) - I guess I had a mental block last night - as you can see from my asking for spelling because I knew it wasn't right.
