It isn't your imagination.

Thank Mt. St. Helens. :)

Just saw it on KOIN News 6. I checked their website, but they didn't have a link... so you'll just have to take my word for it. ;)

Eli, has a lot of ash/dust reached SE PDX?

Yes I'm to lazy to go outside and see for myself :)

It's not really that the ash "reached" here, I guess.. but a system that came through yesterday/last night picked up some ash from a minor eruption, and then dumped it on us in the form of dusty rain. Some areas were hit harder than others..

Our cars look like they had water droplets all over them, and then recieved a dust bath.. and then the water dried up.

I had the same thing this morning in Tacoma, but see nothing about winds carrying ash here.
I did think it was unusual.

Yeah, I guess I should've said Pacific Northwest, since it wasn't just Portland specific.

I did notice this morning that my windshield was particularly dirty and spotty.

Interesting.

We just got rid of our car. I'm taking out the system though. Moving it to a '69 Skylark. Beat up, but I don't care. Never really have gotten into cars before, but I want to restore it. It's still dirty from the 1980 eruption.

Yea, I parked outside yesterday and it had dusty rain splotches in the morning. I didn't think much of it but the rain doesn't usually do that and now you have the explanation :).

You've gotta admit though, that stretch of nice weather we had through February and the beginning of march kicked ass. We got spoiled.

Yup.. hopefully this summer rocks. I'll take rain and crummy weather now for a nice summer.

Yay, so Tom Potter can come on the news and tell us to take less showers and wash our clothes in the Willamette.

I'm looking forward to the rain in Portland, actually. :D

Bend is too sunny.

Anyway, still need to find a job up there. Lots of IT positions listed in the paper, but it seems difficult to get an 'in' with any of the companies up there.

I remember when ST. Helens blew back in 1980. I was living in Eugene at the time. We got a small ( light ) dusting down there even though 99.999% of the ash plume went East. The problem was most people went out and hand washed their cars and didn't even spray the cars off first .... that dust acted like sandpaper on their paint jobs.

Lot of peeps learned something that day ... LOL ;)
